Vehicle Detail
I bought this 220S in 1994 and drove it daily for over 10 years. Then I bought a Prius and the Merz has been sitting since. It still starts up promptly and runs ok, but it definitely needs attention. The body has some rust spots, the pan has holes close to the firewall on both the passenger and driver sides. The wooden dashboard has water damage and is also split around the ignition lock, the radio is missing. The door wood trim also has water damage. The front bench leather is torn, the rear bench has only a few small tears but is brittle. The engine runs ok (dual carbs), the vent/heater tubes in the engine compartment are missing but are available after market. The grill frame is split at the bottom. The horn is missing (it got stolen while the car was parked in a driveway!). The windshield gasket leaks and needs replacing. The original jack is still in the trunk! The car comes with an original manual in German and a box full of loose items, such as hub caps, steering wheel logo, trim pieces etc. The mileage is what's on the odometer, but it probably made it past 99999 already. Although it runs this 220S definitely needs lots of love and attention! If you have questions, please ask. I also have more pictures. Happy bidding! On Jan-24-12 at 12:43:01 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: I just opened the sunroof and discovered that the front metal piece is rusted through, the plastic pieces that run in the tracks are missing and the fabric has holes and is stiff, so needs replacement. but the sunroof still opens and closes. I also just fired up the engine and it started up on the first try, so it seems to be in good shape still. the choke cable seems to be broken, there's no resistance when I pull the lever and the engine sound and rpm don't change. the body color is a beige with a greenish tint and seems to be the original color. the interior is dark red and seems to be original too. this is definitely a project car and needs to be taken apart and rebuilt completely if you want it to shine in its full beauty! but you could also just drive it the way it is, if that's what you wish! I'm selling this car AS IS, with no warranties or guarantees! I also reserve the right to end the auction at any time!
