Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This 1988 Fiero Formula was extensively modified over many years by its former engineer-owner. He developed it into a balanced track day car, and tracked it (as per the photos) throughout California. It’s been to Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, Infineon, etc. He “retired” from the track a couple years ago and used it lightly around town. I purchased it from him last year and it’s been in storage north of San Francisco since that time. Due to time constraints I am selling several cars because they just sit which is (obviously) a waste. When the former owner purchased the car, it was a high-mileage (197K), clean Formula. He rebuilt/replaced/upgraded everything -- engine, suspension, brakes, etc. The car comes with a thick file documenting all of the modifications and containing both some engine test results and some race history (see photo). Below is a list (compiled by the former owner when I purchased it) of key modifications/parts/upgrades: A.R.I. racing 3.4 short block, with Phase 2 cam w/lifters, pair of performance heads (large valve), Competition Cams, 1.6 roller tip rocker arms, Double roller timing set, Aluminum flywheel, high performance Kevlar clutch, Adjust able fuel regulator, performance fuel injectors (17 lb) Sprint manifold set w/heat coating, Ocelot performance exhaust with tips. Rebuilt calipers and rotors with the brake system set up with silicone (No brake fade), Koni Struts coil over with sleeves (adjustable), Motegi Wheels 17X7 LCS (Teflon), 17X8 LCS (Teflon) rear Fuzion tires 225/45X17 front 245/40X17. New (5 speed) transmission New AC system, New leather seats, Many other small modificationsAll parts documented in files included with car The car’s mechanicals are in great shape and the suspension setup is excellent. Handling is neutral and predictable. The suspension is firm to the point of mild harshness due to solid bushings, etc. Power is excellent and the engine is tractable for daily use. The mechanicals and structure are completely clean – no corrosion, everything in solid track-appropriate (clean, not show) working order. It would make a fine road car for a Fiero enthusiast, or, a great track day car again. It has never sustained body damage, but the paint is original, faded, and contains many stress cracks (see examples in the pictures). Similarly, the interior is well-used: it’s completely undamaged but (see the pictures again) there are stains on the carpets, etc. (And, yes, he did re-cover the seats and add Ferrari logos). As a driver or track day car, it doesn’t matter – better in a way, because it’s a great value -- you get great performance and are not paying for aesthetics or worried about dings. Because it’s white, it’s surprisingly presentable from 20 feet away. But it is far from a show car (unless you’re showing the mechanicals to Fiero or track day friends)! I am glad to answer any questions but I am not a Fiero expert so you may quickly run up against my own knowledge limits. The title is clear – open from the former owner (as it went straight into storage). I’m glad to show the car this week. This is a 5-day auction and, for logistical reasons, it would be great if the winning bidder is able to pick up the car this coming weekend. In fact – I will discount the price $250 from the winning bid amount if it is picked up by next Sunday. (It can be left longer if need be, just no discount!) Particularly given these logistics, PLEASE bid only if you are serious and have positive feedback! Or, if you do not, please get in touch with me directly when you bid. I reserve the right to cancel bids from low or zero feedback bidders who do not communicate with me. I have described this car to the best of my knowledge, based on the facts that were provided to me when I purchased it. Buyer is responsible for satisfying him- or herself about the condition of the car and I do not offer or imply any sort of warranty by virtue of this description.
