MECHANICAL UPDATE 1/21/12: The car is for sale locally and yesterday evening I had a very knowledgably potential buyer come by and look at the car. This is what he found and I feel needs to be passed on to any eBay bidders. 1. There is very slight seepage of oil on the driver’s side valve cover front and rear. Not enough to have any leakage down the engine head. 2. Under the power steering reservoir, down on the engine splash there are signs of steering fluid moisture. We could not find a leaking hose or connection but has had some oil on it in the past. 3. Noticed a faint smell of oil when driving the car. We both went over the engine and transmission top to bottom and found nothing. Could have been spilled oil from the recent oil change. 4. The cruise control is an aftermarket unit. Unit has been installed in a neat and professional manner. I found in the glove box a recent invoice (2007) that states the cruise control works but has a ground short which potentially will drain the battery. The fuse has been pulled and in the glove box. 5. The Miata embroidery on the door panels is not OEM. 6. There is a trickle charger mounted to the battery in the trunk for storage and is not OEM. 7. The cars original window sticker was folded in the owner’s manual booklet. List price with options $19K+ in 1992 The potential buyer spent over an 1 hour going over the car and a test drive. He stated, I represented the car honestly and is one of the nicer older models he has ever run across. I have a sincere $5750 offer from this person. My wife at this time has not accepted till this auction closes on Sunday. THE BEGINNING: This 1992 Mazda Miata yellow exterior with black leather interior was purchased new by my wifes father for himself in 1992 when he was 57 years old. He ordered it with a hard top and BBS wheels as options. He took impeccable car of this car. It was used for summer weekend driving. PRESENT OWNER In 2007 my wife, now 53 years old, bought the car from her father and drove it once and a while through the summers months here in Utah. CONDITION: The car is in VERY EXCELLENT condition. The car has an actual 38,932 miles on it. It has never been in an accident, never repainted in any way and runs like a brand new car. There are only a couple very small dings on the car. The front nose of the car has NO road rash caused by going down a highway. The paint shines like new. The engine bay is clean (I will not wash as if to hide an engine leak of any fluids,you can wash it if you must). There have been no modifications to the engine of any kind. The interior looks almost perfect with only the drivers seat showing some very minor wear. (There have been seat covers on the seats for most of the cars life.) The yellow Miata embroidery on the door panels show wear but is not gone. There are no rips, tears or holes in any of the interior materials. There are no stains or strange odors. DRIVEABILITY: The car runs, shifts, steers, and brakes perfectly. I have never seen the car with the hard top off and soft top up but my wife says it was in perfect shape and operated perfect when she used it a few years ago. The tires are Michelin Pilot with 8/32 tread depth. Tires are mounted on factory optional BBS wheels. The radio as well as the speakers are original and work well. Mazda Miata headrest speakers have been installed. Even has a recent emission tag. Just drive it a way!!! You will not be disappointed with this car. WHY AM I SELLING IT: Every car has it time in ones life..................its time. My wife drives the car less than a 1000 miles a year and I am 6-3 tall and I barely can get into it. The car sits in our storage unit collecting more dust than memories. INSPECTIONS: If you would like to get a pre-purchase inspection, we would be able to take the car to a place of your choice in the Salt Lake City area. You will need to arrange and pay for the inspection. If the car is not as I have stated above, I will refund your pre-inspection costs back to you.
