Vehicle Detail
1966 Olds 442. Original California black and yellow plate car. Always registered. Been in the same family for over 30 years.. Original 400 engine with 4 barrell carberator, and dual exhaust. Trim tag reads, first line 06E, second line ST 66-33807 LAN 12664 Body, next line is 99OE H H Paint, then next line is F 2XK, then following line is 5 Y and then at the bottom Body by Fisher. Does run and drive but needs carberator work as well as brake work to be a daily driver. Original drum brakes. Power steering works good. Did hear a little bit of a whine when steering. Seem to work well, but probably low on fluid. Original tube a.m. radio currently not working. Speedometer and idiot lights, both functionable. Secondary aftermarket gauges under the dash for temperature, battery and oil, all hooked up. Front windshield has considerable rust around edges and back glass needs to be resealed due to leakage.. Windows also need new felts and rubbers all the way around including new weatherstripping in the trunk..Does need body work. Some moderate rust.. Hole in floorboard on drivers side and noticeable dent on left rear quarter panel.. Has American Racing Wheels with offset mags in rear. 255 60 15's in rear and 255 65 15's in front. Tires appear to be in good shape. Cooper Cobra white raised lettered tires on both front and rear.. Rear bumper has some dents. Interior is rough. Driver's seats need reupholstering as well as new headliner needed. Dash is cracked too. Passenger seat is in pretty good shape. Carpeting is also torn. Trunk has rust, but hard to tell if there is any rust or holes.. Driver's side head light as well as front and rear signal have loose connection. Back up lights don't work. Might need a new bulb.. Automatic transmission is stock and shifts fine.. All windows roll up and down and fine. Rear view mirror's glass has delamination. Missing center piece on steering wheel, plus horn doesn't work. Engine sounds really healthy and car has potential. It is all there and is definitely a restorable project. Absolutely no trades. Please don't ask. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me. The title says 1966 Oldsmobile and I am guessing if someone wants to verify the vin thru a decoder we can know for sure if it is a true 442. It is what he was told and he told me. We never discussed until now if he knew or not it was a real 442. The owner said he didn't know for sure, but has tried to keep up and registered every year in remembrance of his father. So that is the best I can do. I am trying to represent the best I can. Still welcome any and all questions and will talk to the owner if anything comes up and try to find out anything I can. Again I am sorry for any confusion and thanks for understanding. On Jan-15-12 at 15:07:26 PST, seller added the following information: So I have done some research on this car and from what we can tell it is a 1966 1/2 F-85 Holiday Club Coupe with optioned 442 trim. The trim package including the shifter and such are 1967, hence the 66 1/2. This is not a hardtop. Sorry for the confusion Again the 442 was a trim packaged car, a trimline for Oldsmobile in the first generation 1964-66. Any or all optioned trim packages from the 442 line would make it a 442, but but since a 442 was only a trim package and not an actual model until 1968 there is no way to prove this car is a 442 or not a 442, but we are still working on verifying the engine. On Jan-16-12 at 18:08:02 PST, seller added the following information: Here's a emailed I received from a Ebayer. The 442 was an option, not a "trim option" There are many things required to make this car a 442 which are missing... 100% of the 442 parts are missing. 400 inch big block front and rear sway bars, rear control arms, boxed for extra strength, the flat 442 only hood the vented 442 only fenders the 442 only taillights the 442 only grill the 442 only headlight doors the 442 emblems that go on the rear quarter panels, the 442 emblem on the dash the chrome 442 air cleaner, and of course the 442 option is missing from the trim plateOn Jan-21-12 at 10:37:27 PST, seller added the following information: As mentioned in the questions and answers we got the owner to read off the casting numbers. It might have been read off wrong but if the 2 was a 3 in the list of numbers then this engine is a 403 not a 400 which is definitely is interchangerable with a lot of 400 parts. As most people know this engine was common in late 70's Pontiac Trans Ams of that era.. The motor sounds fantastic again, btwOn Jan-21-12 at 10:39:48 PST, seller added the following information: Again its appears that this might not be the original engine it could be very well be a 403.
