New addition as of Friday 1/13/12 I have just dropped the buy it now down a thousand bucks to 10,500.00. If you hit the buy it now I will now also be including the following "goodies" You will now also get not only the correct ram air cleaner lid, but I will also include a 350 4bbl base. This base will work fine but is not a ram air base. Buy it now will also get you a 1970 4Bbl intake for the Rallye 350. (404520) Buy it now will also include the correct #1 and #4 Exhaust manifolds which are in good condition and a set of #6 heads that are complete but will need a rebuild, i just added a pic of the trim tag today, thanks for looking! Also, I just installed a brand new battery tray and a brand new correct washer bottle. New addition: Ive had a couple guys asking if this is a real Rallye. It seems some people are confused when they see "Cutlass" in the title. The Rallye 350 is actually still technically considered a Cutlass which has the ultra Trick Rallye 350 "Package". Thanks for pointing out that concern to me. This car is indeed a real Rallye 350 ,and is even entered in the Rallye 350 registry. This Rallye 350 is a very worthy car for a nice restoration, and it has already had so much done to it. If you are interested in this car, please check in on this auction and refresh it since I will no doubt be occasionally adding more to the description of this ad as I think of things and as people have questions, so please keep refreshing this ad to get the most out of it! The Rallye 350 is an unmistakable car, and with only 3547 built it remains highly collectible among Muscle Oldsmobiles. These cars handle great and are pure joy to drive. This Rallye is a hard top and is one of only 2367 hardtops made. It has been authenticated by Dave Lawrence, creator of the Rallye 350 Registry, and is entered in the registry . I have just been told by a fellow Rallye owner that he's seen these cars recently going for the high $30,000.00s. I will begin with some basic information on the Rallye 350 taken from the Oldsmobile Buyers guide written by Richard M. Langworth, as well as from a couple other sources. History An interesting substitute for the Hurst / Olds, (which turned up missing this year), the Rallye 350 included the following; A 350 high-compression four barrel V-8, fiberglass forced-air intake, custom sport steering wheel, styled sport outside rear view mirrors, deck-lid spoiler, rally suspension and dual exhaust system. Also provided was the W-45 appearance package which included Sebring yellow paint with black and orange decals for hood, fender peaks and rear-body silhouette: urethane-coated Sebring yellow bumpers; blacked-out grille; custom-painted Super Stock II wheels with G70x14 inch wide-oval blackwall tires; and a bold "Rallye 350" decal. It was an alluring car if you were a little on the wild side. The '70s incidentally, were the first new Olds models introduced by General Motors Manager John Beltz, a popular young engineer who replaced Harold Metzel. Beltz said he "expected people to be impressed with the Rallye 350's looks, but that we believe they will be even more impressed when they drive it." The times were not right for such a package, however and only 3547 were sold. Some people may not know that the car was originally intended to be 1970's Hurst/Olds. In late 69 in an interview with well known advertising executive Jim Wangers, he gave a verbal description of the " proposed " 70 H/O , which would include "a potent production line version of the W-31 350 V-8, along with heavy-duty suspension, special wheels, and "a wild paint job". Interestingly, the original paint scheme was yellow with PURPLE and black stripes. Wild indeed. The "W-25" fiberglass forced air induction hood was included, borrowed from the 442s option list, and inside was a Custom Sport steering wheel. Oldsmobiles highly praised FE-2 suspension components were added with front and rear stabilizer bars and boxed control arms. The Rallye 350 was actually a Cutlass option, code W 45, the same code used for the 1968 H/O non AC engine. Few automobiles of the Super Car era had the visual impact of the Rallye 350, and even today the appearance of one in traffic draws stares. These cars are unappologetic attention grabbers, with their unmistakable Sebring yellow body , black and orange decals, snorkle hood scoops, radical"Rallye 350" decals, rear deck spoiler, same color bumpers and wheels , and tough looking blacked-out grilles. Performance and utility The four-barrel 350 delivered 310 to 325 gross bhp, which gave very impressive acceleration. The mechanical and sheet metal interchangeability with other Cutlass and F-85 models is good, and even the decal kit is being beautifully reproduced. I have restored a few Rallyes and have used both NOS decals as well as reproductions by Phoenix Graphics, and didnt see much difference. I would comfortably recommend getting your decal kit from Phoenix graphics. Applying the decals may appear intimidating, but it can be done. Ive even applied several of the decals late one night by myself for a car show the next day, and had perfect success. With 2 or 3 guys (or gals), and a little experience, you should do fine. Also there are terrific Utube demonstrations on applying decals which can give you tons of great advice. The eurethane coated bumpers are a great high durability feature. The Rallye 350 has a clean, uncluttered interior and enough room for a tall driver. At this point I will go on to describe this particular Rallye 350. This Rallye was built in Lancing MI as were all Olds' W machines. This car has been located in the greater Tacoma Wa area its whole life. Since we do not use salt on the roads in Wa, this car has very minimal rust. While the mileage shows 35,000 but I find that hard to believe, and think its 135,000. This car tracks great, runs strong and is a true pleasure to drive. I've had several of these early Oldsmobiles, and in my opinion, the Rallye 350 is one of the sweetest driving cars Oldsmobile made. The Rallye still has all of its original body parts including doors and floors, with the only exception being the drivers front fender which has been replaced. It was replaced with a correct 70 fender. Amazingly, this car also still has its original hood, wing, and Sport mirrors. The original hood is pretty nice but it still needs a little body work. There is some minor seperation on the left front lip of the hood, and its been bumped in the nose, unfortunately, a very common occurance. The nose has been reworked and in my opinion the repair is well done and looks good. The all important "crease" on the nose has been retained. The hood looks very nice from below and has its original screen. Few Rallye 350s are still sporting their original hoods or wings let alone both. I will mention at this point that I had bodywork and paint done on the front "clip" and any rust in the front fenders was welded in and repaired at that time. The spoiler is completely original and has never been redone or messed with. Although the original trunk lid has some rust on the rear lip, it is the original unique (and quite valuable) trunk lid made specifically for a spoiler optioned car. The trunk lid is worth saving and is very salvageable. The original Sport mirrors are in very nice shape. The remote drivers side mirror cable has NOT been cut (an all too frequent thing) and still works fine. The floor panels are original, solid and still have lots of the factory overspray. There is a 1 foot square patch in the left hand rear floorboard. The drivers door is original to the car. It has a couple dings and has some rust. The passenger door is original to the car as well, and is better but has some minor rust as well. The quarter panels have some typical rust and some dents, you may want to replace them. The inner fenders are not rusty. The rear bumper is the original urethane coated bumper, but has been repainted yellow over the urethane. The front bumper has been replaced and is just a chromed bumper that has been stripped of its chrome, properly primed and painted yellow. The bumpers have a few dings and tweaks but are certainly restorable cores. I like to drive this car, its been dependable and fires right up. I even have it currently licensed and drive it whenever I can.. The trim and emblems on the car are all there and in good condition. All of the exterior lights work good except the Left rear turn signal. High beams and low beams work good. The interior is complete. It has new seat upholstry, new headliner, new carpet, and also a new package tray. The dash is nice, but the dash pad has a narrow crack on the pass side. Its not very noticable though since its so narrow. The SPORT steering wheel is an original and is quite smooth, and in overall good shape with a reproduction horn button. It has no horn contact, you will need to get this to get the horn to work. The console has the correct cut out for the Dual Gate and is in good condition. The door panels while not terrible do have speaker cut outs which I have made nice patches using the original door panel vinyl. The door panels also have some other blemishes and will need to be replaced for the car to be show quality. The back side panels are nice. The windshield is uncracked and all the glass is quite nice. The only real flaw glass wise is a chip on the pass side window which doesnt show much. The headlight assemblies are in great shape and the grills look great too. The tail light assemblies and lenses are in good original condition. There will no doubt be questions about things I havent thought of yet, and I welcome any inquiries and comments, and am more than happy to take more detailed pix for those who want them. As a matter of fact I encourage it, thanks for your input. Here's a list of some of its "goodies" for easy reference. : Original -------hood Original wing Original mirrors Orig. rear bumper Orig.
