This 1971 Mustang Mach 1 is an iconic model like those
featured in films such as “Diamonds Are Forever”, “The Mechanic” and “Gone in
60 Seconds”.
Ford produced only 36,499 Mach 1’s
in 1971. The Marti Report shows that ours came from the factory with Medium
Yellow Gold paint (#3492-A) and Ginger Clarion knit / Corinthian vinyl buckets.
Just 1,259 cars were produced with this paint and trim code combination. After 40
years how many of these still exist?
Our Mach 1 comes equipped with power steering, power front
disc brakes, tinted glass, cruise-o-matic transmission and air conditioning
(currently not blowing cold). The wheels are aftermarket American Racing.
As you can see from the photos there is rust on the passenger
door, a ding on the front bumper, some dings on the driver’s rear quarter panel
and the driver’s door is faded. The car is a good candidate for some paint
work.
The interior is showing some age with cracks in the driver’s
door vinyl, loose trim in the rear, rust on the steering column and a missing
horn button on the aftermarket steering wheel. A removable faceplate radio was
installed but we are including a period correct AM/FM/8Track player.
The trunk has rusted through as shown in the photos but the
underside of the car isn’t showing much rust.
