The Porsche 924S hit showrooms in 1987 as a combination of a 924 body and 944 engine. This cost-effective blend of good performance and good pricing was sold during 1987 and 1988 The 924S had performance on par with the turbo, but with improved reliability, and less cost. Porsche sent only 2190 to the US in 1988.
Our 1988 red 924S has a 2.5 liter, fuel injected 4 cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The car came from the factory with power steering, power windows, air conditioning and a sunroof.
The black leather interior is clean but showing signs of age. There is significant wear on the steering wheel. A high quality dash cover was installed. There are openings in the rear seat side panels and carpet most likely from the removal of a roll cage. See photos for details.
The air conditioning is not functioning and we have not investigated the problem, could be as easy as a recharge.
The car has had body aerodynamics installed including a Carrera GTS hood with non removable scoop and fender flares. The hood has one (?) quick release clip and the front bumper valance has a quick release as well. The front valance on the passenger side below the headlight has a small stress crack below the seam
The new Yokohama tires are mounted on Fuch wheels.
Performance modifications include a Koni suspension, race exhaust, performance air intake and race headers with a straight pipe to a flow through muffler.
The bright red paint, body kit and graphics (easily removed) make this car look like a racer even it doesn’t have a roll cage and 5 point harness!
We bought the car from another dealer with 95,318 miles on the odometer. The Car Fax shows the prior reading in 2004 to be 95,071. The Virginia title shows 120,867. We are using the odometer mileage in the listing since the title mileage was a clerical error. Otherwise the Car Fax is clean and the title is clear.
The car has been hard to start in the extreme cold but in milder temperatures there is no problem. If you plan on transporting the car by carrier / trailer to a cold weather location this could be an issue for unloading.
