Up for sale is a beautiful British Racing Green Jaguar XJS. Without a doubt, the best thing about this low mileage Jag is having the dependable and reliable Jag inline 6 cylinder engine. This is the third XJS I've owned over the years. My first one had the overly complicated, insanely expensive to maintain and unreliable after about 60k miles 12 cylinder engine. I fell victim to what became an all too familiar scenerio to anyone owning a 12 cylinder XJS. One day it would overheat...Replaced the water pump and thermostat hoping to cure it..A very expensive repair. Naturally, that didn't stop it..compression test revealed a valve/head issue...The cost of the repair was more than the car was worth. So alot of these cars were converted to Chevy 350s using companies (Johns is the most famous of these companies) bolt in conversion kits. The XJS came with the Chevy 400 transmission anyway so the engine swap was quite straightforward. Now you had the beauty of the Jag XJS and the dependability of the Chevy. A Chevy conversion XJS was my next car. The peace of mind, not always keeping an eye on the temp guage, was great. I could finally drive one of these cars out of my 200 mile AAA towing range. The only noticeable differeance in the drive was the acceleration. With a Jag engine in the car, speed when you're accelerating just seems to swoosh as opposed to the 350 where the acceleration was more abrupt. At any rate, I would have kept the car except it was the Jag champaign gold color...I never liked it...sold it and years later when Jaguar finally came to their senses and put the 6 cylinder in the cars, aquired this one. It's super clean. The paint on all the panels is in very good to excellent condition. There are some rock chips on the rear bumper. The interior is also in very good to excellent condition. There are no cracks in the dash or wood surrounds. The seats have no tears. The convertable top along with all windows, ac/heat system - well everything works as it should. A new AC compressor has been installed. Having been stored indoors its entire life, the convertable top itself is in excellent condition, going up and down as it should. I have the original tools and convertible top cover along with original books, etc. The Jag cd player is in the trunk. In anticipation of adding the set 15x7 of Dayton wire wheels, jag caps and bolts (they cost over $3000.00 new) I had new front shock absorbers installed. The car now rides like new again. A small rock chip spread accross the windshield and a new $600.00 windshield was just installed and comes with a Safelite lifetime warrenty. The current tires are basically new. The car in British Racing Green is beautiful enough but if you want to take it to stunning, adding the wire wheels is an absolute must. They change the entire look of the car into a more sporty type car. The car comes with the ability to put it into sport mode option, which changes the transmission shifting times. These wheels also fit the Jaguar XJ6. If the car is purchased for the Buy It Now price, I'll throw in the wheels/lugs (a new set of special lugs required for mounting is $115.00) for free. If you've ever wanted a head turner, getting compliments every time you take it out then this is the one... In the pictures of the wire wheels, some of the spokes appear to have rust on them. Its simply the shadows. None of the spokes have any rust. There are some circles of surface rust where the lugs tighten. The chrome and wheels are in EXCELLENT condition...shinning like new..Good luck bidding...
