This is a 1963 Galaxie 500 XL Box-top. This car was built in the San Diego Plant and lived there in the dry Southern California environment all it's life until about a year ago when I purchased it and had it shipped to the east coast. It has most of it's original lacquer paint. The car is survivor quality as the pictures indicate and has all of it's original sheet metal. At the time of the listing I do not have a trunk key, however the trunk is mint. The rear bumper and back seat are in the trunk. The mileage stated is 17,000 + and I believe to be correct as there is virtually no wear and tear on steering wheel, dash knobs, console, original shifter knob and all of the places that hands normally touch.The dash stainless is almost pristine. The dash pad has no cracks. The seat covers have very little wear however the desert sun degrades the seams and stitching. The door panels are missing. The car has it's original headliner and is in good shape. The original engine (406 Tri Power) is missing, however from the bell housing back it is 100% original. The top loader 4spd with original shifter and knob, drive shaft and 411 posi rear still remain. This is a G-Code car (all G-Codes were 406 Tri-Power). The engine is a FE-Block probably a 428 but not sure (nothing special). The car runs and drives really well, has 4 new radial tires, no slop in the front end and has all of the original ball joints tie rod ends etc. again zero slop in the front end which further supports the believable low miles. The transmission is very slick and quiet as well as the rear. The brakes are excellent, parking brake works. This car can be driven as is, if you wish. This car was licensed and driven in California as recent as 2010. I do have the original BUILD SHEET, Proof of 406 Tri-Power 4spd 411 Posi from the factory. This is a more rare car than the later 427 Galaxie's. The pictures speak for themselves, this is a very special find for a Galaxie lover. Any questions, please feel free to ask. Top loaders came later. Transmission is correct.
