HistoryThis is a 2000 Saturn SL1 in fair condition but has a lot of miles ahead of her. This car "The Sattie" has been so good to me. I bought the Sattie my sophomore year at college 2003 at Virginia Tech when I was attending classes full-time while working full-time, and was barely able to pay bills. But I have never regretted my purchase, even during the hardest of times. And I'm still happy with my purchase today. The Sattie has been a great, reliable car during my many trips from VA Beach to Blacksburg and back, Blacksburg to Miami (internship) and back, and VA Beach to Flemington, NJ (my [now] wife lived in F'town) and back. This car has certainly seen some tough days, but I've always done proper maintenance and have appreciated her, and she's always done right by me. I moved to NJ to be with my [now] wife in 2007 and brought the Sattie with me. I started working in Manhattan in 2010 and since then, the Sattie has mostly been sitting in our backyard, regrettably neglected. I've included tons of pictures to try to paint the best picture possible. As mentioned, this car is worn and has seen some better days, but the most important part has been making sure proper maintenance and care has been done on a regular basis. This car has been involved in two accidents. One was at school when a drunk driver carelessly side-swiped the parked Sattie. The perp was caught and their insurance paid for full repairs, which included a new hood, front bumper, and front driver-side quarter panel. The Sattie looked and ran brand new after the repairs, and I was a happy camper. Unfortunately, the Sattie was involved in another accident where she hit head-on a guardrail at around 15 mph, which was enough to deploy the front airbags. This was in VA Beach, VA right before moving to NJ. After towing the Sattie to NJ, I was able to come across a wonderful mechanic (Kyle Petchow, Sunoco, Centinnial Ave, Cranford) who was able to affordably repair and re-certify both the front driver-side and passenger-side airbags, as well as applicable front impact sensors. Thus, the airbag system has been fully restored. The only other damage was sustained by the bumper only, which sags about a half-inch, and the plastic exterior has some minor damage in some areas. Please note that the cosmetic damages have NOT been repaired. But they are not too bad, which is why I have never made these repairs myself. (See the many photos for proof of body condition). The only damage sustained is some denting on the hood due to a retread from an 18-wheeler driving on I-64 East from VA Tech to VA Beach, which was kicked up by the car infront of me and whip-lashed onto my hood (grrrh!). Outside of these events, the Sattie has been treated as royalty and has been driven a lot of miles. There are signs of normal wear & tear as you'd expect with an 8 yr old car, but overall, the car is in good shape. The damage that does exist is purely cosmetic and does not affect actual performance of the car. As mentioned above, the Sattie has not been driven much at all over the last two years, which is great. I think this car has many more years ahead of her. Unfortunately, the Sattie's utility has been outlived with this family--sad as we may be--because my wife and I have just had our first son, and we are selling the Sattie so that we can buy a mid-size crossover SUV.
