Vehicle Detail

This car is all factory. The Body is rough (hood has blown open at some point in its life and mangled the hinges, dents in door, rear quarter, etc) but not very rusty. It runs good and drives, I drove it to work a few times and decided to park it before a speeding ticket came my way. It is in need of brake work (wheel cylinders is my guess it is loosing fluid). It has drum brakes all the way around. I was intending on a restoration but I have way to many projects and not enough time. this car is the 1st year of the cougar and valuable when restored or a really fun hot rod, drag car project. The motor looks overhauled recently and runs like its fresh but I cannot say that it has been done for sure. I bought this car 2+ years ago and have driven it only enough to run around 10 gallons of fuel thru it. This is a basic coupe NOT xr-7 or gt. It is registered as a collector car and I have the clean title. The vin break down is a 1967 model born in Dearborn Michigan, it is a standard hardtop with a 289 2v (intake and exhaust are period correct but I cannot see the head or engine castings) C-4 automatic transmission, 2.79 non locking rear axle. Its D.S.O. was Seattle, WA (ironically 4 hours away). Interior package is light ivy gold crinkle (all vinyl) and exterior is called Lime frost poly. Id call it green and green. It will need rust repair in the trunk and floor boards its pretty bad in my opinion but it is driveable. The odometer shows 87,575.5 miles. On Dec-20-11 at 21:57:52 PST, seller added the following information: quick addition, she runs and drives! starts easy. It brakes are questionable and she was born with manual brakes. AGAIN my guess is its lost a rear wheel cylinder because after a LITTLE bit of driving you have to pump the brakes to comfortably stop and it looses fluid. I dont see a puddle yet but I expect one soon. THIS CAR IS A DRIVER! and a couple hours of tinkering will make a awesome xmas present to a person who wants a project or a starter for a high school kid in shop. The two questions I have been asked Ive had to repeat myself. THIS car is a running driving PROJECT! It will drive coast to coast BUT it needs a few hours in the air and under the hood to make it safe. I havent touched it for two years. ITS A COOL CAR! Happy bidding and Happy Holidays! On Dec-22-11 at 05:14:04 PST, seller added the following information: Good Luck Bidding everyone! There are 54 accounts watching this auction!! Thats exciting for tomorrows auction end!!!! I have only driven this car MAYBE 150 miles total since purchase a couple years back and that was the first few weeks. I took it on a short drive of under 5 miles to the post office last weekend and it started and drove fine. I bought this car with intentions of restoration but with a baby girl on the way in feb. I know it will not happen any time soon. I am getting asked if it will drive to....... she runs, shifts, steers, really good. I have not driven this car enough to be comfortable to say that it will make a road trip from here to california with NO mechanical failures and if you have a trailer and plan on picking this car up, well, haul it for insurance reasons! And the condition once again, body is ROUGH, it will need a lot of time doing body work, it will need floor and trunk pan repair, and the exterior is not very rusty (but it has some surface and and a spot in the left front quarter) I hope this helps! Please consider this car a project or a parts car, DONT EXPECT THIS CAR TO BE FLAWLESS! It needs a few hours of repair before being a street car again, to what extent is up to you! I drove it last weekend with its questionably in op turn signals, failing brakes, glass packs with no carpet, etc and it was a nastolgic blast but that was 5 miles not 300 or more! HOPE THIS CLARIFYS ANY QUESTIONS!! Sincerly, James (509)727 two396 On Dec-22-11 at 06:43:14 PST, seller added the following information: In the 150 miles that I have driven it the only tools I had to use on it was a flat head screw driver to exchange the liscense plate other than that its a very solid running car. The reason it is on ebay is to get more people with interest in the frist year 1967 Cougar the ability to see it. There isnt much interest locally for these cats, people dont know what there missing and I will have another again as finances allow. I paid more for this car than what the bid is at for it due to the true value in this car. I would imagine if you did the minor work on the brakes, signals, and adjustments your self you would have less than 100.00 cash in to making this car a driver. Its gauges all work, the lights and signals all worked 2 years ago (thoe the signals are having issues now that I would imagine are very minor and just from dirt and sitting), Its body is restorable with alot of time and a some money you will need parts like bumpers either straightened and chromed or replaced, a hood and at least 1 hood hinge, and some cutting and welding to fix a rust spot in the drivers door or front drivers fender (I cannot recall where it is ill look at the car when I get home if i get asked), it has some major and minor dents that need repaired, the interior is shot. no carpet, no head liner, no radio, its missing mutipule small pieces, the drivers door panel is in the trunk due to the previous owner re welding the mounting area of the latch assembly (prob due to wore out hinge pins for too many years but the door is repaired well in my opinion), and So in all fairness this car is a project and needs work but if you dont mind sitting on tore up low back buckets (factory) the smell of old car, the sound of rumbling exhaust with the 289 breating thru glass packs, and the over all thrill of driving old muscle like you were 16 again you may not see the real value of this car. It is a liscensed, clean and clear titled, 1967 Mercury Cougar nostalgic hot rod with the ability of being put back together as a long term complete restoration,or father son or mother daughter project, or cut it up tub it squirt paint on it and go to the track and that is where the true value of this car sits!!!!!! AGAIN GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING. I HOPE THIS CAR FINDS A REAL GOOD HOME!On Dec-22-11 at 09:58:10 PST, seller added the following information: Turn signals work again!!! They need cam repair for $10.00 in parts due to the right turn not "locking in" see link. http://www.cougarpartscatalog.com/c7sz-13318-b-repro.html On Dec-22-11 at 16:49:17 PST, seller added the following information: If Bidding exceeds 1700.00 I will repair the brakes and supply receipts showing the repairs before it is picked up or shipped! Happy bidding to the 65 watchers! only 17 hours left on this opportunity to own a classic piece of america!
