Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4 x 4 Cummins Diesel. I purchased this truck in 2006 with 47k miles on it. I have replaced it with a new truck. So, I guess I should sell it, so it doesn't just sit around here and never get driven. It wasn't driven much anyway because there are a number of other vehicles here and I also have a company car. It was very well maintained and I have about $8,000 in receipts for parts, labor, etc not including work done under warranty since this truck had a 7/70 factory warranty until September 2009. I would like to note that this truck was driven solely by me and has never been used commercially. The plow was used to plow my 500' asphalt driveway. It doesn't have any gooseneck of 5th wheel hitches. The Cummins motor has always been completely stock. If you know much about Dodge trucks, you know 2002 is the best year for 24 valve motors - No "53" or Brazilian blocks were used that year, unlike the 1998-2001 trucks. (Google 53 Cummins block for more info) Also this is the only year these 2nd generation trucks had 4 wheel disc brakes and finally, 2002 was the last year that Cummins built a 6BT Diesel that didn't have unbelievably expensive injector and electronics that the 2003 and up have. I will provide a detailed description of the truck in following paragraphs. Mechanics Cummins 24 valve 6BT Engine with auto trans. No leaks anywhere in any component, serviced every 3-4,000 miles. Transmission and transfer case serviced also. Starts instantly, shifts correctly, no clunks or slack in driveline. Had new front pads and rotors on it when I got it. New rear discs, calipers and pads at 53k, new tires at 48k that still have about 2/3 tread with no cupping or uneven wear. New upper/lower ball joints, track bar, tie-rod ends and alignment at 48k. New updated fuel pump and injector pump at 50k done under warranty at Glenbrook Dodge in Fort Wayne, IN. All new coolant hoses at 60k (if you've ever done a Cummins 6BT you know there are about 10 of them.) The A/C blows cold, all gauges work and read correctly. Cruise works, power windows and locks work on both doors. Has working CD player, trip computer and compass. Does not have keyless entry.Tracks straight down road, has not pulls or pulsations. I put 2" coil spacers on the front springs so it doesn't sag with the plow. I also had Airlift airbags installed on rear, so it doesn't sag with heavy load. The bed was built by Nomanco in Roann, IN and it is in good condition. This truck has 4.10 gears with a limited slip rear differential. At a constant 60 MPH it gets around 17.8 - 18.0 MPG. It retains the factory fuel tank and it does fill correctly unlike some flat bed trucks. The tires are 33" Procomps and are in good condition with lots of tread on Mickey Thomson Classic II alloys with steel inserts in the lug nut openings for added strength. Plow Western Unimount 7.5 standard duty. I bought it from W.A. Jones, the local Western dealer. It was used, but in good condition. I had it completely disassembled, sand blasted, repainted and serviced. It has no leaks or other issues. It probably has less than 50 hours on it in the last 5 years. I always cleaned and oiled it, so it would not rust and it hasn't. It was kept indoors when not in use. The plow lighting all works including the revolving light on top. Body/Exterior This truck shows some wear, but it is not rusty. I always kept in clean. The door bottoms are in good shape because I coated them in POR 15 and oiled them several times a year. For the most part I tried to keep this truck off the road in winter. The cab corners and rockers are not rusty. The floor pans are like new. The paint is original with the exception of the silver on the doors, which I have touched up due to rock chips and because Chrysler's paint would chip off the pinch welds on the rocker bottoms and I didn't want them to rust. The paint on the roof is getting hazy. The rest of the paint on the hood, fenders, doors and cab in good condition and still shiny. There are numerous light scratches and some minor dings. There is a shallow dent in the bottom of the drivers door that you can see in the picture, the windshield has some small chips and some scratches from an ice scraper. All other glass is good. The frame and underbody of this truck are like new because every summer I cleaned and repainted the frame, axles, steering components and underside of the cab because flatbed trucks with rusty underbodies look bad. All in all it is much above average, but not like new. Interior Seats and armrest in good shape. Door panels okay too. Head liner intact and in place with small blemishes (see pics). Dash has some cracks in front by defroster vents. Instrument cluster, gauges, steering wheel, accessory controls in good condition. Carpet in average to above average condition. No water leaks or wind noise. All interior and dash lights work. Heater and A/C controls work, horn works. The fog lights don't work. I think it may be the switch because the bulbs are good. The headlights on this truck don't compare with modern day lighting - they just aren't bright enough - but that could be changed with different bulbs. I didn't drive it much at night, so left them alone. Bed/Toolboxes The bed is an 8' factory built diamond plate steel flatbed built by Nomanco. It has LED tail/stop lamps. All lighting works. It is in good condition - I repainted it every other year. The underside is in good condition too. The tool boxes are new this year. They are made by RC Industries and they are heaviest and most expensive ones they make. They lock and I do have keys. Summary I have receipts for eveything listed above that go with the truck if you want them. I am somewhat reluctant to sell this truck because if I had regrets I could never find another one. In my opinion the 2003 and up Dodges while more powerful, are less reliable, worse on fuel and once out of warranty horribly expensive to fix - injectors alone can cost $3,000 - $4,000. This is still a pretty basic truck with many years left in it. So, rather than having it just sit I may as well sell it. Remember - it is nice, it has been over maintained , but it is still not a new truck and it doesn't look new. It is not for sale elsewhere and there is no "buy it now". I won't sell it before the auction ends, so please don't ask. The reserve is realistic. I want to be paid within 4 days of the auctions end. No checks. Cash or wire transfer only. If you do not have the money Right Now to buy this truck don't bid on it. If you arent serious about owning this truck...dont bid. If you need permission from someone to buy it than get it before you bid please. Less than 10 feedback bidders call please. I have the title in my possession. I have a limited amount of time to spend on the phone but call with any questions 260-310-4207. Please no emails...Im no where near a computer most of the week. No trades. Miles are actual and title is actual miles also. I have all books and manuals. My name is Pete. Thank you.
