Well for starters, the car has been owned by one person since 2005, and apart from some visible wear showing on the drivers side typical for a car of its age, it is clean inside and out, has always been serviced and maintained on a regular schedule (records available), it is currently smogged and registered in California (through September of 2012), everything in it works, there is a manual, 2 sets of keys and remotes (plus a 'courtesy' key), yes, it does come with a spare and a jack, and if you've done your homework with Volvo S-40's, the first thing you want to know is if the 100,000 mile service, which includes changing the timing belt, among other things, has been done, and after that no one wants to buy a used car only to bring it home and find out it needs new tires and brakes, and with this vehicle all of those questions are answered--the timing belt, tires, front brakes and wipers are all new, in addition to a recent oil change and filter at Jiffy Lube. (1-10): 8 "Original owner of a 2002 Volvo S40. It is in my opinion one of the best cars built in its class for that year. It was better than the BMW 318, Audi A4. It has been really reliable w/ no mechanical issues to date. I tend to the cars maintenance and I have a very trust worthy mechanic friend, although I don't keep up on the car maintenance according to the owners manual or AllData program specs. The only down side to the car is the suspension, I drive the car often in New York City and the we don't have the best roads unless they are newly paved. I highly recommend this car as long as the pot hole situation in you area is minimal." After seven years still no problems!! (1-10): 10 "Full of bells and whistles, sun roof, a/c, power everything, heated leather seats, fun little car to drive, very comfortable ride, great handling even in snow/rain, cools off quick in summer, heats up well in colder weather, plenty of trunk space, seats fold down for more storage space. I'm more of a truck gal but sure like pulling up to the pumps in this. Only drive my truck now to haul something or plow. Only downside is parts are more expensive but well worth it. What I will add to the above that gets overlooked sometimes in a car with the well earned reputation for reliability and safety of a Volvo is how much fun it is to move through traffic in with the turbo on while savings bucks not only at the pump, but also at the garage, and yes, the heated seats are also very nice this time of the year!
