Vehicle Detail
1952 BMW R67/2 Rolling Chassis. Only selling as a vehicle because it actually has a title (California Pink Slip). Frame number on the top plunger tower matches the tag. What you see is what you get. -This bike was part of a bike purchase I made years ago and now it's just taking up room in my shop. Sadly, this bike has lost it's motor, gearbox headlamp and fuel tank (the major stuff) somewhere along the line. I have put together all of the plunger parts from the several boxes I had from that buy. There is however quite a number of hard to find useable / repairable parts here. the rear drive turns smooth, and there doesn't feel like there are any notches or tight spots in the driveshaft. The ratio is correct for R67 (32/9). the Front Fender has a very old skim-coat of filler under crummy black paint, but looking at the underside of the fender, it doesn't appear to have been damaged badly. The rear fender is decent as well. Good working 5 segment hinge is present. A competent body man should be able to work wonders with them. The 2 half width wheels seem straight enough, but are ugly and would need to be gone over. Front and rear suspension seems to be mostly there and there is no evidence of crash damage. Frame is crusty, but doesn't look bent anywhere, however I don't have a fixture to be 100% certain. All in all, this is probably more suited to being a parts bike than a project, but as I mentioned, it has a title, So I didn't want to part it all out, but if it fails to reach my reserve I probably will. So take a little inventory of what all is here and add it up. It's gonna be a heck of a deal for someone trying to complete a plunger twin project! And Keep in mind, all of this stuff is just as it was when I pulled it out of a dingy garage and it's almost 60 years old, so it's not perfect! Ask questions BEFORE bidding. Now for the boring stuff: Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. It's all on you, but I will help load. Sale is as-is, where-is. No warranty expressed or implied, no returns. I accept Cashiers Check from a US Bank or Cash upon pickup. $250 Non-Refundable deposit via Paypal is due within 48 hours of auction end.On Dec-05-11 at 10:40:26 PST, seller added the following information: To answer some common questions I have been receiving: I do not have a "Buy it now" price. The auction will run until it's end to be fair to all bidders. Parts for this particular machine are quite common between 500 and 600cc versions (R67/2, R67/3 & R51/3) 1951 thru 1954 with the exception of full width hubs/wheels/brake plates and rear drive. There are a number of other parts that are only correct for certain models, but a great deal of literature is widely available for to help you sort out the minutia. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. Since this bike has no motor, you can fit any 2-cylinder powerplant from 1951 to 1969 and it will make little difference due to the "orphan" status of this serial number. You must, however source a gearbox produced between 51-54 unless you are fitting a 1970 - later motor, in which case you are on your own. Good Luck & Happy bidding.
