Vehicle Detail
Hello I am selling my 1987 Monte Carlo SS. I purchased the car from the original owner. The title is clear (confirmed at Delware DMV , still in his name). Very cool seeing a original title from 1987. The car has been sitting for approximately seven years. The description will be an honest one (see my feedback). I am not one to mislead anyone. It is an unmolested SS. It has the 305 with posi traction rear and sway bar. All original drivetrain. The car run and drives, but does not brake well (system needs bled), and the rotors are rusted from sitting.I did not pull wheels for inspection. I just got it running this week. The fuel is good ( no bad fuel in tank). The car idles and accelerates well with no flat spot in the quadrajet which is a big plus. The transmission shifts through all its gears. I installed a battery, belts, and fuel filter to get it running. The car is not ready for the road, again it needs brake attention. The left rear tail light is broken, as well as the small body filler piece in front of it. The car is not pictured with the air filter, I have it, I just removed it for the picture. The AC low side line is missing (it was gone when I got the car, the AC is inop). The vehicle will need to be roll backed because of the no brake condition (you wouldn't want to anyway to you change fluids and service it etc). The body is in very good condition for the year. This is a no hit body from what I was told. I also have body shop experience, and all panels look original with no signs of paint work. The front end is beautiful, with no damage at all to the areo front end. It is one of the nicer ones that I have seen. The tops (hood, roof and trunk are thin and begining to peel, with minor spots of minor surface rust here and there. The tops will need to be stripped if painting car, The right side of car does not have a door ding to be seen (super straight). There is light surface rust under door seams on the inside edge (you do not need doors and / or patches). You cannot see the rust without opening doors for hard inspection. The right side lower quarter panel has a plumb size spot of rust (SEE PICTURE). The left is straight as well, but has approx. three small dings. Again small amounts of rust in inside seam of door on left, however the rear corner of door will need a small patch( It is not through, just being on the safe side). Before I go on, please understand that I am being ultra anal here. YOU CAN LEAVE THE BODY ALONE IF YOU WANT TOO. Both front and rear windows should be removed and resealed. The rear is leaking minor, but enough to make the right side floor soft, with one small hole the size of a quarter, due to water coming in. I would not replace floors. I would weld on top of existing floors, as from underneath they look very good. The interior is pretty damn good. The seats and door panels are good. They just need a Company like Color Dye to make them look new (the dark burgundy has faded some)., The seats feel great as far as padding with good support (absolutely no rips or tears). The dash io 100% great and not cracked anywhere. All gauges, including tach work. The console cover pad is cracked, the headliner has been removed, but the pad is fine, as well as all moldings in place. The Carpet can be saved, but the juke padding below needs to go, as it absorbed dampness and causes odor. The wheels are very good shape. If you scrub them, they would be border line in need of restore, as not much clear is peeling at all. They are slighlty stained from brake dust. The tires have tread and hold air. I think I beat this car up too much on the description. Friends have seen the car and are pretty impressed with its condition, considering itt has been sitting all these years. You can see by the pictures its complete and clean, and not by any means a pile of junk. It can be a good driver, or you can restore it (your choice). You may call me to make appt. to see the car. Just email me and we'll go from there. Thanks
