Vehicle Detail

Vehicle is Located in Arkansas. Almost all of the series Land Rovers imported into North America by Rover had four cylinder power plants. The six cylinder was available in 109 station wagons the last year that 109s were imported to North America . Land Rover went for the 2.6 liter engine for more power. These are known as the Weslake-head versions because tuning expert Harry Weslake was consulted, although Rover engineers insist that most of the design changes were their own. The NADA 109 Station Wagon was the ONLY Land Rover to use the Weslake-head 2.6 engine. All other six-cylinder models used the earlier (Rover 100) engine, although improvements were made to this over the years until production ended in 1979-80. The Weslake-head engine was fitted for the US because Rover North America's head, Bruce McWilliams, insisted that Americans wanted the extra performance. Research Credit: TeriAnn Wakeman. Rebuilt Head, rebuilt power brake booster. Old Man Emu shocks, Parabolic springs. Brownchurch roof rack. Good and complete upholstery, door panels, headliner, etc. No rust bucket project here. You could re-paint, if you wanted the "new" look. It has mostly original paint at this time. I added a Roverdrive for better highway use. In very good drivable condition. Very minimal minor rust. Only 811 ever built, only one, this one, sent to Searle for a Carawagon conversion. http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/FAQ.S.chassis_numbering.343.html This plan would be reversed for a Left Hand Drive Land Rover. http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/LR.images/cw_continental.gif Not much of the Carawagon parts are left. Gone before I purchased it. The brackets under the front passenger seat for the small propane tanks, and the gas plumbing to right rear all appears to be there. The curtain track and wood trim around the inside is still there, with the sliders. It was apparently the "Continental" model, so there is no raising roof. A few odd bits and brackets which I do not know the use for. And, perhaps most importantly, the Carawagon badges on the rear are there. I think all the "camping" parts could be reconstructed fairly easily, if one so desired.
