Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since 1999 and it has been a real joy to drive until almost 3 years ago. Now it is just a joy to look at : O Since the time of refusing to start it has truly been a garage decoration with some minimal moving about to keep the tires from getting flat spots and to wash it. You will be talking to and buying from its only owner for a very long time.... Me ! Car ceased to start about 3 years ago....... and has been stored outside for 3 months now. LOTS of new parts and care have been put into this Z. Its the original engine and had the full timing belt, pulleys, spark plug change performed by a Z guru about 2,000 miles and 2 years before it slowly decided it did not want to run over the course of a few weeks. I had really planned on just putting 500 to 1,000 miles a year on it until I was no longer on this planet. Great condition interior wise and electrical wise and cool looking wise. EXCELLENT car for a Z car mechanic as it does need some work. The car not starting could simply be a result of the very low annual mileage placed on it and having old fuel in the tank that did not get properly burned off. This was a big error on my part thinking a 10 mile drive every week would be fine for the car. Well, I failed to account for how long the fuel may be in the tank,,,, again this could or could not be the issue,... my Z does not talk to me. That is to say a simple fuel filter clog or perhaps a fuel injector clog is the culprit. My Z started acting up on the last few days of 2008 I believe before it said no more unless somebody replaces some part on me. If you have a ConsultZ computer or just plain know what to look for then this is a great car to work with. I do not have any mechanical expertise and do not wish to tinker on these cars. I am a big fan of driving and caring for Z's but just dont get along with wrenches and manuals unless its for oil changes. The vehicle is located in Denton Texas which is 20 miles north of both fort worth and dallas texas. You are more than welcome to have a look at it before buying or even work with the OBD or take a look at something else that could be the problem. Z's that decide to chug for days and then not start could be ( from what I have been told ) bad fuel, bad fuel pump, bad fuel injector, bad fuel filter, bad catalytic converter, and maybe , just maybe the alternator. Well, I dont really expect to know for sure anytime by myself as it has been in this state sitting in the garage for awhile like I said,.... I am very slooooooow on how to proceed. I recently moved in September 2011 and needed to have the vehicle towed. It was then that I knew I should offer it for sale to a Z guru or someone who is a mechanic. SO here is my ad 3 months later with some admitedly really lame pictures. I will surely find or take some better ones soon. Please note that buying the car means taking possession of the vehicle as is with the nice tires, and body in nice shape and a car that really did run very sweet for many years. I am offering it for cheap cheap cheap. If you get it running with just a simple fix like a new fuel filter thats your business and I am happy for you. I did add gasonline stabilizer to the car in quite often from 2006 onward as it was being driven so little. THE BAD Engine stopped turning over....... Other known problems that were still driveable with at the time it last worked were a small leak on the driver t top. This car was almost always garaged so it hardly mattered but in a downpour lets say the ttop would leak maybe a tablespoon of water every 10 minutes in an absolute drenching of a rain. I did try a little bit of leak sealant along the ttop but that did not seem to do much, the rear gasket seal has a slow oil leak, I have the gasket but never installed it. I would say it would leak a quart every 10,000 miles at the pace I noticed. Its probably not going to improve by itself if you know what I mean. There are numerous little door dings down both the driver and passenger doors. This was how I bought it after the car was 10 years old and apparently previous owners always parked next to total idiots that would swack their door into the Z. I never parked the car next to others once I purchased it but of course this does not undo the door dings. Some fool broke into the car in 2002 and smashed the door window ( replaced ) and took the stereo out., The cops caught up with him 15 minutes later and returned the stereo but he hacked up the harness and I never reinstalled it. If the particular details of the stereo are a dealbreaker for you then get with me first before buying. I should easily be able to find all the parts but as of this midnight moment typing away I can not guarantee stereo perfection for you. Again, I have that same nice aftermarket stereo ( sony or panasonic I believe ) and can work with you on details if you like. The wiring harness is available.,.... this is a small fragment of my memory on this as it occurred almost 10 years ago. The car was in a slow speed front end OOPS event back in 2000, it popped the freon off of the AC and I had to buy a new OEM headlight on the driver side, a new OEM hood, and a new OEM front fender. The frame on the side had to be pulled 1". This was 11 years ago and it was only cosmetic damage and repainted there with PPG paint. Car really shines up nicely though the photos currently do seem to mainly show dirt and sunglare. So thats some good with the bad. I have not covered every single micro detail and have left off nicks or scratches perhaps but this certainly the big picture and I have no desire whatsoever to hide anything on this car..... ask your questions if you like....Now on to the next segment.... THE GOOD rare blue black cloth is in pretty excellent condition though it does have some dust due to no use throttle and shifter worked great, brakes are in excellent condition, tires have tons of tread and a very good brand name with a high rated sport tread on them its a 2+2 so there is actually room for carrying people or other items in the back manual 5 speed transmission is fun to operate and I had the short throw shifter professionally installed this is not a modded out car with 3 turbos or frankensteined parts all over it, its OEM Japanese stuff which is a good thing The price is only $2,500 and if you like the color blue then you are in luck Only Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes with OEM nissan oil filters, the rare Nissan filters that are hard to find though I still have a stash of them. Driven by a mature Z nut who has owned 5 different models, this car was not thrashed about or gets clutch burning out tire flaming starts. The car was not a garage queen car by chance, I had always planned on seeing how long I could keep it running and it was not going to be a daily driver as the Z's get more and more rare. I am saying you get a very respectable sports car that was really taken care of and not destroyed. The stereo and all of the speakers worked nicely ( did not have the fried out sub bass like some Bose stereo Z's) and I even replaced the annoying external antenna motor so the antenna would retract and extend as intended. Its funny how many Z's have their antennas stuck in the half way up position..... The car ran pretty da*# tough and was a joy to drive with or without the ttops off. I have the ttop covers and slipcases.... Actually I have tons of extras, nice floor mats, a new hatchblack glass wraparound seal just because the original wraparound rubber was faded. The windshield was replaced with PPG glass due to sand pitting from bad road conditions before I bought it. New side covers were placed when the shield was reinstalled, new hood cowls, lots of cosmetic upgrades with the OEM parts. It really was and is a beautiful car. I never went cheap or junky on it in otherwords. Can make a very good buy for the right person. I do believe the vehicle is currently exempt from inspection points due to its 20 year old status and can be considered collector car status with insurance discounts and waived from inspection garbage due to the low mileage as well. The car always passed its inspections but that could be a bonus to get an insurance discount, this applies to any car over 20 years old that is not trashed. : ) Well, perhaps an email chat or a talk is simpler at this point, the car is complex, its a $34,000 car in 1990 that broke all the rules with sports cars and now it sits unwilling to start and so I think $2,500 is a fair price. I was going to start the price out at $4,000 since just the wheels and tires should be worth $700 not to mention the glass T-tops are $1,500 to replace. Again, it is a 5 speed manual transmission 2+2. This is a naturally aspirated 222 hp aluminum v6 engine and does not have the turbos. I did add an OEM turbo spoiler aka wing to the back trunk lip. FYI The turbo Z's can be a hoot to drive as they add 75 extra horsepower or a disaster due to the high heat environment cooking off everthing in the engine compartment and the extreme compression causing numerous turbo related problems. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< < < < < < Final comments after some sleep and deep thought........... The trunk hatch is glass and heavy, the shock supporters do not hold it upright anymore, I have bought the new, dare I say , OEM shock supporters but never put them on. You can of course have them. When the car was repaired and painted a very reputable paint shop go ahead and spray the doors due to the door dings and nicks on the door panels. The hood is OEM aluminum new as they are too expensive to repair. I just replaced everything new so it was correct. Apparently when the actual door handles are removed to individually paint those so the job is done correctly, it confused the mechanic on how to get the latch assembly to mesh correctly with the locking mechanism..... i.e. the door will remote open and close but will only physically close and lock from within... either you as the driver as you go down the road or from the passenger side as you reach over. This was not an issue for me as it has been garaged 95% of the time. The security alarm and lock unlock feature works nice and I have 2 key fobs for this. It makes a lot of noise for criminals but still will not keep crackheads from smash and grab. This is why I have left the stereo out of the car. To avoid a thieves eyes. More GOOD: great condition OEM radiator replaced 6 years ago. new OEM master cylinder put on at 95,000 miles. the rotors and pads are great condition. Very light braking You can have the stereo/ cd player tuner that is currently not in the car. I have the original owners manual though I am not sure if I can find it. The title is free and clear, has my name on it. no salvage or rebuilt crud on it.... Clean vehicle history.... glove box locks and works great. I believe it still has some weird white blotch on the inside thought I have never idea what from, the basic condition is excellent. Great condition interior cloth all around. very high quality japanese sport cloth. Again, it does have dust accumulated and needs a nice detailing like I used to always do. power steering is top notch, great feel and handling temp guage, oil, speedometer , tach all that stuff works pretty awesomely as of 3 years ago.... I cant get the car to completely turn over but you can see the tach bobble around as it tries to get compression on all 6. seats are very supportive and work...... I have disconnected the power seat as I was worried about the motor useage and always the possibility of the little motor that could would stop working with the seat in some really bad position by a car inspector. This was the only other person that ever drove the car. Man did I hate when a stranger would get in my Z : ( The seat is easily reconnected back to the base just dont want you to be surprised if you come to take a look at it, We can reconnect it before the car is bought and you can see it function 100 %. the shocks struts are very good condition.... bilsteins for superior handling. The t tops remove and attach easy, the cruise, lights low and hi beam work, the electrical should be tip top and you can see that with a simple jumper start to the battery, come to think of it someone said the problem could be the alternator. I have never replaced the alternator but I dont think that is the issue. I have never put a ConsultZ to this car which is the OBD reader with lots of detail. Like I said earlier, the car was a garage queen and very nice to ride. No weird ABS or airbag lights or warning lights on the dash Oh yes.....this car has the rare 3 spoke steering wheel with Airbag. This is OEM and only used on the car the first 8 months of production.... then Nissan went to the lame 4 spoke wheel. I think that may be it for the most part.... I could write 10 pages on what all is nice on it and some parts replaced over my time owning it but I dont think I will. Oh yes, the previous driver was lucky enough to be a certified Z mechanic with Nissan so you know I did not buy junk back in 1999. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The car is released with the title I have in hand once funds are clear. That means a cashier check will take at least 24 hours to truly clear from a place like even Chase bank. Cash is the only thing that is immediate and without any hold time. If you buy it now and paypal that is fine but know the FUNDS MUST BE CLEAR...... I can only assume that a guy somewhere between 25 and 45 is going to buy this and give it some TLC. If you are that person we can talk or email and arrange a convenient time for picking up or towing the vehicle to your location. What I am saying is please Buy it Now if that is you but hold off on the payment method until we speak. There is no point in saying your wire transfer is good and wanting the car before my funds are clear....... that is not going to occur and you may just get upset in the process. I have sold 5 of my personal cars on Ebay over the last 6 years and every buyer has been very happy with the deal they got. This car is unique in that it had a few days of goofy running and slowly decided it does not wish to start until something is fixed. This is the only car I have ever owned that stopped working but I am completely open and telling you this beforehand so there is no confusion on what the condition is. Its a great car for the right buyer and someone not afraid to get a little dirt on your hands and take over the legacy of the Z cars. Keeping this in mind, lets keep all our feedback at 100%. <<<<<<<<< FINAL ADDITION OF INFORMATION that may be of great interest to a buyer This is a Texas car always, maybe 10 days total of salt or sand on the road driving, i.e. it is not a rust bucket like the northern cars, My Z does not squeak or creak or rattle or groan, Its been garaged so the interior is not fried. there are no cracks on the dashes or pieces that have dissolved from living outdoors. It is also always a Texas title so it has not been washed like they do in Florida and so many other states, that means when you buy a car from Florida or others, the car can be totally destroyed, rebuilt then shipped over or redo the title leaving off that little jewel of information. This is one reason why so many cars are for sale in Florida. The dealers dont know any real info about the car and they dont want to know....... helps with their sleeping at night I suppose. You are buying a car from the actual owner who totally pampered it. Its sad it started puttering and then stopped as I just do not work on cars. I guess the car could be towed around to a mechanic but at this point it sounds like alot of inconvenience. If I had not made it clear, you can come and look at the car.... If your OBD COnsultZ or just your knowledge lets you know how simple the car will be to get contact with the starter to the engine then that is your business. You still get the car for $2,500 and that is my word. Perhaps someday collectors will be paying $5,000 for hollowed out rusty shells of these cars just to restore them but here you get a very exceptionally nice Z that was miles ahead of others I looked at. I have looked at over 30 Z's for sale over a 10 year period and found only 3 of them seemed like they were not totally abused. I was extremely picky with what to look for. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> just click contact seller if you need more info, I check email at least once a day. Please pay attention to the box that checks for block or do not block email address to buyer. I am truly not going to spam you with ads if I know your real email address and it makes communication much simpler than going through the EBAY MY MESSAGES area. Thanks for your interest if you made it this far through the read. : ) more pictures up hopefully real soon, but I have a way of procrastinating....... come see it for yourself either way.
