Up for auction is my 1957 BMW Isetta 300. This was a running and driving car that has been stripped down for a frame up restoration that unfortunately, I can not finish at this time. So, off to a lucky new buyer it goes. Most of the hard work has been done with this car to include the frame broken down and coated, body stripped down to bare metal and epoxy primered and blocked out...ready for color, and small parts refurbished. This car is mocked up currently and needs paint, interior, and final assembly. 99.9% of the parts are there, windshield is missing and mostly small soft trim that would be replaced after paint anyways. Please feel free to email me with any questions about these wonderful little cars. This has been my 5th Isetta that I have done, so I am happy to help in any way that I can. Shipping is buyers responsibility, please be aware the car does not run as the engine is out of it, however, Haulbikes.net is a wonderful resource for shipping these small cars cheap across the country. I will help with loading and whatever I can on my end. Good luck bidding!
Last note...car will come with a bill of sale only, no title. I can help get you a title very easy if you need one right away. On Nov-18-11 at 10:14:42 PST, seller added the following information: I was just told by another Isetta enthusiast that HaulBikes may not ship Isettas anymore. I guess it would depend on who you talk to as I have shipped a few with them before as the dimensions are the same as some ATV's. I will look into other shipping options but encourage buyers to look at Uship or some options themselves as well. I also forgot to mention that the 5 wheels are powdercoated in white with new tires ($750) and the underside of the car is bed lined for great looks and protection. And a copy of John Jensens restoration book ($100) comes with the car as well. This is the "bible" for these cars.On Nov-21-11 at 07:04:30 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked exactly what this car needs by many people so let me try and go over everything. The car has been taken all the way down and the frame painted with POR-15 rust preventative paint, the underside of the body has been coated with UPOL Raptor Liner. The rear chain-case is good to go. The engine and transmission should be freshened up and Bill Rogers or Perry Cycle can do a great job on this or you could do it yourself if you have the knowledge. Brakes need to be rebuilt and are off the car. Suspension needs to be painted or coated, your choice. Bodywork has been started but will need to be finished. There is more block sanding and filling along with a small seam about an inch long that needs to be re-welded. Glass needs to be re-installed, I am missing front windshield and the rear I have is plexiglass but looks great in my opinion. New soft trim needs to be bought and installed. I would get new bumpers for the front and rear and maybe re-chrome the cow bars. Tires and wheels are brand new and flawless. Needs a new exhaust and air cleaner as the other one was busted. Needs new headlights and bulbs for all blinkers. Needs interior, seat has been painted with POR-15 already. I think that is about it but if I remember something, I will post it later. Just remember that this is a project car. A small microcar yes so the work is easier than a full size car, but this will still take some time before you can enjoy it this spring. Also remember that this is a non running project and you will need to inform the shippers of this. Again, Uship is probably your best option as the guys will tend to work with you on anything there. Maybe even ship it as cargo, I will be more than happy to strap this onto a pallet or two for shipping. Anything else, just ask.On Nov-23-11 at 00:02:11 PST, seller added the following information: A few other things that I thought I would mention. There are new brake hoses and a new clutch ($400) value. Not sure if it needs a new clutch but it was a brand new extra one that I had so I figured that I would throw it in. To answer some more questions...The wheels are the two piece, split wheels and have been powdercoated white. Tires are from Coker and are Khumos, brand new with the tube inside. Split rims need this. The rest of the restoration can be done by a person with little experience yes, thankfully I am including John Jensens restoration book to help you out with the rest of it. Bodywork still needs to be finished. I have epoxy primed, filled, and blocked quite a bit but some areas like the rear need to be worked more before paint. Wiring is all there and perfect, you just need a new battery. No interior cardboard panels, but I have a guy who has the templates that can make them for you once you decide interior direction. Parts can be sourced thru Werners company, Isettas R Us and a copy of his catalog will be included with the sale. I know the shipping is daunting to think of but for far away places, the best method may be to strap it on a pallet and ship it as freight. I will strap it down tight, pack all the materials carefully inside, and cover the exterior with shrink wrap and cardboard to avoid damage during transit. On Nov-23-11 at 21:04:15 PST, seller added the following information: Last picture added of parts laid out. As you can see, stuff has been contained in ziploc bags with it's content written on it so parts don't go missing anywhere and reassembly is easy. I have more pictures if anyone needs them. Last 24 hours of the auction so bid now. This car will be amazing with very little work. Could be driving it by spring!
