Vehicle Detail

1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, 60,000 original miles, Competition Orange exterior, Black Interior. One of 12 cars originally ordered with 429 SCJ engine, ramair, 4-speed, Drag Pack 4:30 Detroit Locker rear. Car needs a total restoration, comes complete with Marti report verifying it's authenticity. This is the car you would have ordered in 1970 if you knew what you were doing to run for pinks on the street. Thats the good news, the bad news is it's an original NYS DSO ordered car from Niagra Falls, New York so it suffers from the rust of this region. I have been storing this car for restoration for 30+ years and it is time for it to find a new owner who wants to restore the car, of which I have seen less rare cars bring up to $65K. The best way to restore this car would be to bolt on rust free southern donor car bolt on sheet metal parts and replace the floor pans and touch up the rest. Unfortunately when I bought the car in 1980 the original engine, transmission, and rear end were missing as well so the car needs those part too. It has been brought to my attention that this car may not have been originally ordered with ram air. Apparently "The 429 Mustang came with either a "C" or "J" code as the 5th digit of the VIN meaning either a 429 CJ or SCJ engine. The C meant a 429 CJ or SCJ without Ram Air and the J meant a 429 CJ or SCJ with Ram Air". I assume these same rules apply to the Cyclone. Since I have had questions about this, I also do not have the external oil cooler, rev limiter, or speedometer reducer that came with the 4:30 cars.
