Vehicle Detail
CE00677 T150T 1971 Triumph Trident Export Triple T150 T 4 Speed Engine and Frame serial numbers match CE00677 T150T This is the Export model as Triumph shipped to the USA circa early 70's, the 1971 Export model. The fuel tank has been reduced to bare metal and the bike needs to be re-sprayed in original black, with possible exception of the rear mudguard which appears pristine. The only variation from the original 1971 Export model is the 1973 disc brake front wheel, but this is a very desirable conversion and should not affect value as a collectible 1971 Triumph Trident. Personally I prefer the retro look of the Trident when compared to the BSA Rocket 3 but I have another project I am working on, and unfortunately cannot undertake this one. This bike was in storage for many years, and purchased with a bill of sale and that is how it will be sold. This Trident was fully checked by the local Constabulary and given a clean background but the title was lost after many years in storage. I purchased it as a potentially easy restoration since the previous owner bodged an electronic ignition conversion, and could not get it running. It is still not running and needs the ignition wiring put back to original shape with original contact breaker (included). The after market black box ignition is not serviceable and resulted in a cut wiring harness. The engine kicks over well and seems to have plenty of compression. The PO stated that the bike was running until the ignition conversion got bodged, but the bike is sold as-is. Condition: Overall I will describe the bike as very good/ex - cosmetically and appears to be 99.8% complete. Although 3044 miles are indicated on the clock, I cannot guarantee this mileage. Front wheel is apparently from a 1973 and brake works very well. The wiring is in bad shape and must be completely gone through. The engine kicks over nicely and it seems to have full compression, but I have no way to check. The gears have been gone through manually, and all seems okay with the four speed. The hardware appears to be original and of correct UNC/UNF type however note that the timing covers have the allen screw kit fitted. Nuts and bolts are mostly clean and tidy with no rust. The seat and tank are original, and both are in great shape noting that the ugly teal green has been sandblasted and you are looking at the bare steel on the tank. The chrome on the pipes and silencers is excellent, the wheels are somewhat pitted here and there, and should be re-chromed to build a show bike. It has Avon tires and they are in great shape. The rear offside quadrant turn signal is missing but all electrics present inc signals appear to be original Lucas and appear to be in very good working condition mechanically. The reflectors are missing from the rear grab rail, and the carb rubber air filter mounts must be replaced. I don't see any Taiwanese parts on the bike and this is indeed a great candidate for restoration. I believe in the right hands it will be an easy restore, and someone who knows electrics can probably get it up and running relatively easily, but again I am selling this Export model just as you see it, as-is, precisely as seen in the pics. Shipping: No problem shipping this Export model to the UK or New Zealand or Australia where the Export model is fully appreciated as the unique collectible it is. Since this Trident has no title I will break the bike down to wheels, front end, engine, frame and ancillary parts to ship in five crates via surface freight from Los Angeles. This is not a problem but there will be an additional $400 USD breaking charge plus $100 freight cost to LA, then the buyer must pay surface freight charges to their destination. If your destination can accept a complete motorcycle with only a notarized Bill of Sale, then it can be shipped overseas from Los Angeles with only a $100 freight charge to LA then the buyer must pay surface freight charges to their destination. Out of State? Then Google "Uship" Uship accepts auction type bids from transporters and has been excellent. Seat and tank removed only to show detail, seat and tank are included Seat and tank removed only to show detail, seat and tank are included On Nov-18-11 at 10:56:59 PST, seller added the following information: Here is a video showing the bike overall sorry it's a little fuzzy. Also I am not trying to start the bike, it is just to show how it kicks over and seems to have good compression: 1971 Triumph Trident The ignition system will need to be gone through to get it running again. Since this video was taken, the offside footrest and rubber have been replaced. The seat and tank were removed to show as much detail as possible. On Nov-19-11 at 08:03:06 PST, seller added the following information: Two title companies were contacted and both were helpful saying that a title can be had, the cost is around $400. For an overseas buyer having the title means the $400 crating charge is not necessary, so the cost to crate will be $100 unless the overseas buyer wishes to use their own shipping agent, in which case there will be no crate charge due to me (the seller) on this end.On Nov-21-11 at 19:39:52 PST, seller added the following information: I applied for a bonded title and put the paperwork in motion. It can take from six to eight weeks to get the title and costs $400. If someone wants it without the title too that is fine. I did not know any of this stuff about the title until putting it up for auction, so apologies for any inconvenience to bidders.
