Vehicle Detail
Hello..... Thank you for viewing my listing. How many of you have heard of the guy that buys a car, has big plans of building it into something great......... Spends a bunch of money, and then POW... Gets married. No need to panic, the new wife likes the idea of muscle cars and wind blowing throught the hair as you cruise to the local burger joint. Then..... BIG POW..... kids. Suddenly, the idea of a rumbling V8 on friday night is replaced with cleaning cheerios off of the minivan headrest. And your beloved muscle car project just went from the garage to the back yard under a beautiful blue tarp. Ah yes, welcome to reality!! Ok, So I may have embelished the story a wee bit but in a round about way...... That is why this listing is here. I purchased this Mustang over 6 years ago as a non-numbers match car right in the heart of the Pro-touring kickoff craze with the intentions to build the biggest and the best Fastback in the Valley. And if you continue to read this add you will see I was actually well on my way to doing just that when, well........ Refer back to my first paragraph. So here goes: This is the most interesting project on ebay....... Of that I assure you!! This is a 1967 Mustang Fastback GT. It was built in San Jose and believe it spent some time in Nevada thus the lack of California black liscense plates. We are car guys and I can honestly say that this car has basically no rust in the "cancer spots". There is a bubble on the roof about 1x2in that I have not peeled back but may be a small amount of rust there. This car has been in a barn, car covered and tarped for 3 years. So as you can see the metal work has surface rust but I can assure you it is strictly surface rust. Like I said, it has been 3 years since I have lifted a finger on the car so there are some things I will miss or explain incorrectly. I apologize, please feel free to contact me with any questions or clarification. Car and Body: I basically have every piece of trim and molding. I have the rear window with louvers. I have all chrome. All GT pieces. They will need some shining up but unless I have misplaced or they were not on the car to begin with, I have all the trim. The exterior has not been modified at all. Somebody drilled holes in the hood many years ago to add hood pins (I assume, gotta love the 1980's) The paint will need redone. I have tried to photograph the paint but it was tough. You are not bidding on a show quality paint job folks. Suspension and Chassis: Ok, let the games begin..... Front end is a Martz front clip. The shock towers are removed giving you QA-1 adjustable shocks. Rack and Pinion steering. The rear is all custom fabricated tubular triangulated 4-link. It was built for QA-1's as well but were robbed for a test fit on another car and never returned. The back half is tubular as well as the roll cage. The underbody is tied into the Martz. Brakes: All 4 corners are Wilwood. I may be off on my diameters but I think the front are 15in 6 piston and the back are 12in 4piston. I have the calipers for the rears.... Just noticed they are missing from the pictures. Rear End. Dutchman 9in with Dutchman axles. 3:53 third member. Motor: Ok, this is where things take a turn for the interesting. 358 cu Wiston Cup SB2 motor that was built by Richard Childress. It was his test mule and to say that he has done some modifications to it would be the understatement of the month. I found the motor in Panella Motorsports shop with 14.5:1 compression making 971hp. I had then completely rebuild the motor to 8:1 compression (preparing for the Procharger I have not mentioned yet.) and the little bugger still made 571hp!! And yes, I have the dyno sheet to back that up. We set the motor back 12 inches to center the weight for handling. Ok, for those of you that just realized I have transplanted a Chevrolet motor into a Ford...... You may as well save your breath chewing me out. I have heard every line from every side possible and I am sorry..... I am a lover of all things American Muscle.... We own Fords and Chevys both. The Fastback to me is the best looking car ever created and had it been a numbers match car, of course I would not have done this. But this is what came together for this car. Wheels and tires; Thank you Pro-Touring.net years ago for bringing me pictures of the beautiful grey Kenisis 3 piece rims!! The fronts are 18x8 with a 265 tire while the backs are 18x12 with a 345 tire. Michelin on all 4 corners. The boxes: Ok, in the boxes on the side we have some goodies...... A F-1R Procharger complete kit with aftercooler. A Tremec 5 speed. Mcloud bell housing with a mcloud double disc clutch. Ok..... I think that may be all. I am sure I have missed a lot of things but look at the pictures and you may find some of them...... It was a duel consol car. I do have the GT lights for the front. I have two white auto meter gauges. I have headers for the motor. I will add more to the listing as I think of things....... Basically I was heading for a extreme pro-touring/auto cross car. The car was built to run 800hp normally with room to grow with race gas and other changes. As you can see, this car has a great start but has stalled out. I will be very honest, I do not need to sell the car. I am tired of it sitting and wish that it could be finished into what it deserves to be. If this listing does not work, I will begin to part it out but I would rather somebody take the whole thing. I realize that these listings sometimes have people wanting a unrealistic number for a not-so-nice car. If you know cars you know what I have into this thing. I am not giving the car away but feel like my reserve price is more than fair for what is all for sale here!! Please do not ask what my reserve is....... If you want the car..... Bid for the car!! If you have ANY questions, feel free to ask me..... (except what the reserve is) The car is located in the Modesto CA area. I will be more than happy to show it to a potential buyer. I do have the right to end the auction early. I will deliver the car within a 50 mile radius but will be more than happy to assist with loading after that. $1,000 within 24hours of auction ending and the rest before the car is shipped. If the reserve is not met I may contact the highest bidder. Please do not bid if you cannot afford the winning price. THANK-YOU for your interest and now I have to go buff out tricycle scratches from the family station wagon.
