For sale we have a 2000 Honda Insight Electric-Hybrid. This car runs and drives great. The 1.0L motor sounds great and with 140k miles this motor has a long life left, the batteries are charging as they should, the 5-speed manual transmission shifts nice and smooth and the clutch grabs perfect. For those that really know these 1st generation insight that they love to eat up the input shaft bearing. When we purchased this car we went through safety inspection and I noticed like almost all the ones I've owned that it had a noisy input shaft bearing. We took the transmission down, replaced the bearing from the Honda dealer ($20) put new transmission fluid from Honda dealer and the car is ready to go. This input shaft bearing should last at least another 140-K MILES! Below you will find the pictures of the car being worked on. I've personally driven this car and it runs great. I would get in average around 52 mpg but if you do drive it very slow you will do 70 mpg. As far as the body goes for its age it's in pretty good shape. There are some few scuffs and a dent on the driver's door. The car will need the rear view mirror to be put back on and as well as the shocks for the trunk are very weak. No more than $40-$50 to replace them. Please refer to all the pictures. The interior is pretty good for the year. Yes the car does have the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires which are meant to go on this Insights for better fuel mileage and they are in VERY good shape with LOTS of tread left.
