Vehicle Detail
1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Roadster W107 Here is the chance to own one of the most beautiful and timeless roadsters that Mercedes-Benz ever made -1973 Mercedes Benz 450SL! 1971 was the first year of this body style, and W107 chassis of the 280,350,380,450 and 560SLs was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, Germany factory. R107 series was built until 1989, more than 18 years after its debut, a true testament to its popularity. 1973 Mercedes 450SL’s are becoming next highly collectible SL after the pricey and very famous W113 280SL Pagoda Mercedes!! Part of what makes the 1973 450SL so desirable to Collectors and Mercedes enthusiasts is the increased U.S. emissions and safety requirements starting in 1973 causing later models to be fitted with special crash bumpers and emissions control systems resulting in reduced overall look, performance and horse-power. This Mercedes features more elegant European style “short” bumpers, and 1973 was last year this feature was offered on US models of W107 series. Owning a Mercedes SL gives a person a real driving enjoyment and pride of ownership. When these cars were first manufactured, Mercedes-Benz adhered to construction methods that resulted in a standard that was the envy of the automotive industry. Every Mercedes-Benz model shared a build quality second to none. -About the car: I purchased this Mercedes with the intention to do full restoration, but because I have few other projects going on at this moment, the time that I need to devote to this car is a luxury that I do not have. This Mercedes is all complete, and it will be fun restoration, as you can still drive this car while slowly restoring it back to its full potential and beauty, as most of restoration that is required is cosmetic. It’s Black paint is showing its age, and for the car to be returned to its full glory, it will need to be repainted. This is a perfect time now for the new owner to decide if they want to keep this Mercedes painted Black, OR return it back to its original and very rare and stunning color combination of Dark Tobacco Brown (paint code 423H tabakbraun dunkel) with Autumn Beige Hard Top (paint code 430H herbstbeige). You just don’t see that many 450SL’s with that gorgeous and very rare color combination, but, even now as it is, it will stop traffic, and provoke curious bystanders with it grace and beauty. The body is in pretty good shape with some bubbling showing up here and there. All chrome is complete and in nice shape as well. Structurally this Mercedes is in pretty good condition, but there are some signs of rust and rust repair done by its previous owner, mainly on the floor boards and the trunk. Please remember that this car has never been restored, so some rust is to be expected. Original Factory VIN # stamping on the front radiator support shows originality of this car. Tan Interior is all complete and for 38 year old car, it’s in very good condition. Original Leather seats are in pretty good condition, structurally sound and very comfortable. It comes with power windows, and they are working as they should. Engine starts up with the ease, and runs nice and strong. Automatic transmission works as it should, and makes this car a lot of fun to drive, especially on the beautiful sunny days with the top down, and wind in your hair! Car comes with both Soft top and the hard top. Dark Chocolate Brown Soft top is very easy to operate, and in really good condition. There are no rips or tears in it, and back windows are nice and clear. This little roadster is a real eye catcher, and it’s a lot of fun wherever you take it. It is a affordable classic that will provide you with years of fun and joy and will only continue to appreciate in its value!! -NADA VALUES: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1973/Mercedes-Benz/450SL/2-Door-Roadster/Values Pricing Original MSRP Low Retail Average Retail High Retail $13,340 $10,550 $15,600 $22,500 See all options chosen TOTAL PRICE $13,340 $10,550 $15,600 $22,500 THIS CAR IS OFFERED AT NO RESERVE, WHICH MEANS THAT HIGHEST BIDDER TAKES IT HOME!!
