Vehicle Detail

1953 MgTd Mark II Great Project. Solid sheet metal. No rust holes! New wood. Original numbers matching engine. Very few of the Mark 2s were built. This is the big boy with all the go fast stuff from the factory! Perfect winter project. Car has a clear Ohio title. Not sure of actual miles. Bidder to pay $250 deposit in 24 hours of auctions end and balance due in 7 days. Responding to demands for more power and better handling, the TD Mk II offered 5.5% more power than a standard car and has enhanced suspension with Andrex friction dampers at each wheel, thereby supplementing the Luvax Girling dampers. This gives the Mark 2 far better cornering over the standard TD. The compression ratio of 8.1:1 plays 7.25:1 of the standard car and the cylinder head has larger valves with heavier springs fed by bigger twin SU H4 1.5” carburettors, mounted to a modified inlet manifold. Fuel supply is via twin SU pumps. The Mark 2 also had a ‘faster’ rear axle ratio and, latterly in the production run, the model got a different distributor which altered the advance curve to better suit the higher compression ratio. Being a late car this TD Mark 2 enjoys all these improvements over the standard TD. 29,664 TDs were made between 1949 and 1953, of which just 1,710 were TD Mark 2s. Numbers from plate: TD/C 21214 EXL/NA XPAG/TD3/21541 ENGINE # 21541 On Nov-09-11 at 01:45:12 PST, seller added the following information: Here is some more info on the car I got in a email. (Thanks Tom!) Your car is a late 52, so it has certain early features, like rectangular tail-lights and right-mounted wiper that was moved to the center of the w/s, at car 21303. It may be titled as a 53 because that was when it was sold, but it was definitely built in October, 1952.You might want to add to your listing that the car has all (most?) of the Mark II items - the dual fuel pumps, the 1-1/2" carbs (does it?), the Andrex shocks in place, etc. That will add to the interest (I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet with BIN - I have two, or else I would...Tom (Mark II authority!) I have more pictures but ran out of room on ebay so email me and I will send them to anyone interested.
