1976 Porsche 911S Targa For sale is this well-preserved, numbers matching, daily driver 1976 Porsche 911S. This peppy Porsche was purchased in 2000 from the 2nd owner in Northern Virginia. This car has been driven, restored, and maintained by a Porsche Club of America member for the past 11 years, and is now ready for a new home. While there is still some work to do, it is a pleasure to drive and looks good. I will add pictures within 48 hours of the auction start. -Exterior- The exterior has been repainted seal gray. The bodywork is straight with a few minor dents and dings and one scape. The targa top fits properly, but is not water-tight. The wheels are original alloy Fuchs (7" front and 8" rear) and the tires are BF Goodrich Comp TA (205/60/16 all around). There is some curb rash on the driver's side front wheel and there is approximately 50% treadwear remaining on the tires. There is no rust in the floors or rocker panels, as the car has been stored indoors for the past 11 years when not driven. All lights, the horn, and windows (full and quarter) are in proper working order. The windows are missing the rubber weatherstripping at the body. -Interior- The interior is the original tan Porsche color and has the original (worn) tan carpet set and "basketweave" sport seats (also worn). The heater/fresh air fan does not run properly and is noisy, but works. The sun visors are missing. An aftermarket radio/CD player has been installed. -Engine & Transmission- This car comes with the 2687 cc motor running the K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection system married to a 5-speed manual transmission. Mechanically, the car is very good. It drives well and features all of the exhiliration a Porsche promises. The motor was professionally rebuit at 90K miles, at which time it was converted to an electronic ignition (i.e., removed the points and condensor). The car is plumbed for air conditioning, but the compressor has been removed. Compression is good in all cylinders and the motor features a sport exhaust. Recently, the gas tank and all fuel lines were replaced. The engine is very good, recently tuned, runs strong, starts up on the first try, and burns/leaks very little oil. It runs and idles as it should, with no problems.One of the heater boxes (flappers) does not operate properly. It is a great running 35-year old Porsche, always (professionally) maintained. The standard upgrades have been addressed including replacement of the head studs and installation of “Carrera” hydraulic chain tensioners. The transmission shifts seamlessly through the gears with no slipping or grinding. There are no strange noises or vibrations from the engine or drive train. The ride in this 911 is very good, there are no squeaks, rattles or other unwanted noises, the car drives straight and true...there is nothing indicating this car is over 35 years old! -TERMS OF SALE- I have full faith in the quality of this vehicle and confidence in the accuracy of it’s description, unfortunately, disclaimers are necessary: Buyers are more than welcome, and even encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person BEFORE the auction ends.
