Vehicle Detail
I am selling my, late production, 1970 Land Rover Series IIA. I am the fourth owner of the vehicle. The first owner lived in England and when he made his move to the US he brought this with him. The second owner ran a local restaurant and sold it to our friend, the third owner. He drove it for many years then let it sit. We bought it from him and restored it to good working condition two years ago. It is a weekend vehicle for us. We are ready for another restoration project so we are selling it to to a lucky buyer, perhaps you. The listing price, and buy it now price, is low. We have some friends looking at it locally, so we may sell it before the listing ends with buy it now. This is a very special vehicle. It is a right hand drive vehicle with a 4 speed manual transmission and diesel 4-cylinder engine (not original). It seats 7 people: 2 in the front; 3 in the middle; and 2 in the rear. The odometer reading is pictured. It may have rolled over before coming to the States. We do not know. It has not needed repairs recently, but I did replace the front headlights with Xenon HID headlights (but I still have the originals) recently. The car still has the original badging all around. I put in a new radio and speakers last year. I also have the original license plate for the front from when it was used in England. Parts are available, if needed, from Rovers North, a land rover parts dealer in Vermont. The car also features the original "winter roof" that is in good condition. The car could use some reupholstery of the front driver and passenger seats and a new paint job (as seen in pictures). I also replaced the off-road tires this year and put on new road/off-road Michelins. Overall, the car is in good condition and runs absolutely great. This is a fun car to drive around town and you get plenty of looks while driving it. It is truly a rare and unique automobile that is sure to last forever. Thanks for looking. Good Luck! The engine is a FORD DIESEL. I do not know when it was installed. So parts should be easier to find. Tidewater Rover, Wilmington NC, did the restoration work in the Summer of 2009 to get it running. It has not needed any work since. I do not know if the windshield is original, however it does have a British sticker on it that is from England that says, "Brittanica Rescue" so we think this is the same windshield that came over from England on it. On Nov-01-11 at 09:36:28 PDT, seller added the following information: It is rare and the uniqueness will last forever. Please do not assume that this Land Rover will last forever. Nothing does. I certainly did not mean to imply that you can count on this vehicle to "last forever" mechanically. Also know that the invoices for all work performed by Tidewater Rover since we purchased it are available upon request. Good Luck and keep the questions and comments coming. It is exciting to know how many Land Rover lovers are out there.
