2003 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor This car is being relisted due to someone deciding to buy it, and then deciding to read the description afterwards. 1. This car should be towed or trailered to your destination. 2. This car needs work to be a daily driver. I bought this cheap and am selling it cheap. I bought it to make a few dollars off of. Here is the story of this car: The previous owner bought it a about a week ago. He was told that the car needed a fuel pump. He bought the car and replaced the fuel pump only to find that the transmission did not have overdrive or drive. He drove it from Columbus Ohio (where he bought it) to Newark Ohio (where he lives) in 2nd gear. He considered putting a trans in it, but something came up and he wanted to get most of his money back out of the car. I bought it on Tuesday of this week. The title is clear, not salvaged. The title is currently "open." If you do not know what an "open" title is, don't bid. Someone else will. Please check my feedback--I give honest descriptions of items I sell, and I don't BS people. In return, I ask that my time not be wasted by tire kickers, nit-pickers, and people wanting something for nothing. The engine is reportedly from a 2005 police interceptor and only has 61,000 miles on it. The previous owner stated that he viewed the receipts for this but he did not have them in his possession when I bought it. Why? I believe that he and the previous owner were no longer speaking due to the transmission issue. I personally did not see the receipts, however the low mile engine is the main reason the previous owner wanted it. I was told the car has BBK headers (which aren’t cheap). I didn't verify the brand, but it certainly has headers. The car has side-pipes. That is right. Sidepipes on a Crown Vic. It is loud. I know---I don't like it either. The check engine light is on due to (at minimum) the aftermarket exhaust system. I had the car towed home and have driven it around my property. I have never driven it on the road, but I take the previous owners word that the transmission has 1st, 2nd, and reverse. I know that it moves forwards and backwards. What the car needs: Assume that it needs a transmission. Maybe you’ll get lucky and it’s something simple, but don’t count on it. Assume the trans is junk. The LCM (Light Control Module) under the dash is bad. This causes the headlights & dash to stop working. When I bought the car, it had no lights. After smacking the LCM, the daytime running lamps worked. I stopped smacking it at that point. This is a common failure on these cars. Search ebay or google for “Crown Victoria LCM” for details. The brakes need bled. The oil gauge and temperature gauge do not work or aren't hooked up. The AC compressor locked up and the belt that is on the car is not correct and will need replaced ASAP. The rear shocks observe to be worn out. Here is a no BS price list for what the car needs— $300 transmission. I found one with 85K miles on it for this price. $50 LCM module...call a junkyard, these cars are very common due to fleet use. $35 AC compressor (same junkyard as the transmission) $15 new serpentine belt (after you replace the AC compressor) I would also highly recommend changing the exhaust system—but that is up to the buyer. If you pay a shop to remove and install the transmission, I have one that will do it for $300. I just spent $600+ at that shop today for work on another vehicle, so I trust them. The positives: The engine starts instantly, sounds great, and doesn't smoke or make any bad sounds. The body of this car is in overall good condition. It is not beat up like most of these cars. The paint is shiny except the spot on the driver fender & part of the door. Not sure what the deal is with that. The headliner looks perfect, no evidence the car has been smoked in. The interior is clean and even smells clean. The door panels are in good shape. The windshield wipers work. The heater is hot and works. The headers for this car aren’t cheap. If one replaced the trans themselves, they would have a clean reliable car for $1600. If you paid a shop to do it (and the AC compressor), you’d have a clean reliable car for $1900. At that point I’m confident that the owner could sell it for $2900-$3500 on ebay. All pictures of this car were taken on Tuesday 10-25-2011. Buy this for less than $1200. Local pickup only. I will not ship, do not ask. I would deliver this vehicle up to 200 miles from my zip code for $2.00 per mile. I would do that only if paid the full purchase price and the full delivery price in advance. Cash or paypal only. Buyer must pay a $500 NONREFUNDABLE deposit within 24 hours, and the balance must be paid within 3 days. The car must be picked up within 7 days of winning the auction. If you cannot do that, don't bid. This is a cheap car, and not worth a lot of additional hassle. If you aren't 100% sure you want this car and understand that you have to do some work on it to make it a daily driver, don't bid. Go away, leave me alone. Someone will buy this because it is dirt cheap and would make a great low buck daily driver or cheap street rod. There is not any kind of warranty with this vehicle. You buy it, you own it.
