Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! The 1982 280zx turbo contained one of the last and many agree the finest iterations of the L6 motor. The turbo 2-seater in black with tan leather interior with 5 speed transmission is possibly the most sought after of the 280's and one of the most collectable z-cars ever built. This car has not been restored, it is a survivor. With only 59K miles and original paint and interior, you can be sure that this car has not been compromised with by someone's "restoration." The original paint still shines with NO oxidation at all, even on the plastic pieces (bumpers, side mirrors) where the hazing generally begins first. The car has always been garaged and never driven in winter. The interior is in excellent condition. The dash is perfect, with no cracking, the seats are excellent and do not have any rips or tears. Carpet is good as well with only minor fading in the hatch area (usually these are toast even in garaged cars). The vinyl on some of the hatch trim is separating as you can see in the pics as always happens on these cars. AC and heat work great. Even the cruise control works! T-top's are in excellent shape as are the t-top shades, covers and seals (no leaking). All rubber seals throughout are excellent; it appears as though they have been conditioned regularly. Mechanically, the car is excellent. I just gave it a tune-up, including adjusting the valve clearances, new spark plugs, new fuel filter, and new thermostat. New battery as well. She starts right up and purrs whether first thing in the morning or when she's fully warm. The compression is excellent and consistent across the cylinders, measuring 157, 156, 157, 157, 159, 158 from cylinders 1-6 respectively. There are no fluid leaks at all, not even a drip. The car has always been run with synthetic motor oil since break-in. The T5 transmission shifts well and original clutch still holds fine at full throttle. There is a small intercooler tucked below the headlight and a Joe P manual boost controller that is currently set at 9-10psi, to give an extra kick while still staying safely within the factory fuel limits. The body is straight and rust-free. There are some small dings and scratches that you would expect from a 30-year-old original paint job, but overall the paint and body are in great shape. There were a few surface rust spots that you can see in the pics that i treated with the KBS coatings 3-step process. (similar to POR-15) It is not the prettiest repair, but it is effective and will prevent any further corrosion. Check out the pics to see what i am talking about, but it is a beautiful car overall and one of the cleanest i have ever seen, i just want to be as thorough as possible in describing the condition. Car has new H-rated tires with less than 100 miles on them. The suspension has been lowered with stiffer springs and koni shocks (suspension work was done around the time the car was new as well as the intercooler install). Car drives well, tracks straight on the highway and the brakes work great with no pull to either side. Wheels are in excellent condition with no curb rash. I'm sure I am forgetting some things but hopefully the pics and videos will answer many of the questions. Car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. Please check my feedback and feel free to ask any questions left unanswered. Thanks for looking! ::PLEASE NOTE::The Autocheck lists this car as having a lien against it. The lien is no longer active and in fact, this debt was paid off years ago but the previous owner never bothered to wipe the lien from the title. I have all notarized paperwork from Bank of America stating that the lien is cleared and it will be removed from the title on the next transfer. This doesn't cause any problems as long as you have the notarized paperwork, and I can email copies to anyone interested.
