I have decided to sell my beautiful 1983 Toyota 4 x 4 pickup, 2.4 22r 4 cylinder, 5 speed, manual lockout hubs and manual two speed transfer case. This is a Toyota enthusiast's dream truck! I just don't have the time to enjoy it. The truck is even better than the pictures show. This is the history to best of my knowledge. The original owner bought the truck in Florida 1983 and drove it stock until 1989. He then started a major custom overhaul. Most of the list below was completed between 1989 and 1993. The guy kept virtually all receipts, including original window sticker build sheet in a very neat binder. The truck went into garage storage somewhere in the mid 90's until 2008. It was then sold to the Tampa area. This owner had a very nice paint job (approx. $4000) done on the rust free truck. The bed was removed and blasted. He did no other mechanical work and drove it very little. I purchased the truck in 2010 and proceeded to do some normal maintenance and modifications to improve the comfort of the truck. Here is a list of some of the thousands of dollars of work done. 22r Engine: 10 to 1 pistons Big valves Balanced and blueprinted Header New exhaust and Dynomax muffler Modified factory intake (heater plate removed and machined plate TIG welded in, all ports drilled and tapped for NPT plugs or sending units) New Weber 36mm synchronized carburetor with electric choke Complete electric fan conversion with new radiator New belts A/C conversion to R134a (works great, no leaks) Suspension: 6” lift all around Triple front shocks Double rear shocks Dual steering stabilizer 5.29 Richmond gears front and rear Custom forged Pro Truck series 15 x 10 forged Centerline Wheels 35 12.5/15 tires rebuilt brakes with stainless lines This truck drives great. It tracks nice and straight, handles well and brakes pretty well, considering the size of the tires. It starts very easy and gets decent gas mileage. The gearing is matched perfectly with the tires and the speedo is right on. The A/C is cold, the radio works good, all the lights work great, all the gauges work properly (the factory temp gauge is unhooked due to a real temp gauge installed), the cooling system is all new and works exceptionally well. The only gas I have ever used is 93 octane non-ethanol. I have never taken the truck off road. The interior is original and in decent shape. I would do over the seat and floor covering in the future. The dash center bezel was cut at some time to install a normal size radio. The truck came with a very nice bolt in roll bar that I took out to gain space in the cab. It will be included with the sale. The rear bumper was missing and should be added in the future. This is the only Toyota of this style that I have seen with the original bed and tailgate in 20+ years. Even the hardware on the tailgate still has the original plating. The original paint in the engine compartment and inside the cab looks like new. Please read the description before asking questions.
