Vehicle Detail
I have an old 1979 Greenwood Corvette for sale or to the highest bidder. It is a Greenwood Corvette that is in pretty solid condition, outside the fact it needs to be painted. The previous owner painted it and has left defects and overspray on the windows, trim, etc. but really looks ok and especially good for the price. The engine runs good but needs a new starter as it drags when you crank it and really drags when you recrank it , I assume its due to stored compression. I had a new carburetor installed on this last year. Since I have had it I have barely driven it so I cant gaurantee its drivability, I would suggest that you tow it home and have it checked out before you can rely on it mechanically. there are some issues with the fuses as some were removed. the windows will not go up or down but the motors turn, i assume they have fallen off track. the turn signal lever has been broken off but should be able to buy a replacement pretty cheap. This car will need TLC and thats the problem I have with it , due to time and the need to have the added funds I have to let this go, and I regret that because I wanted to have it completely gone thru to have a beautiful corvette. This vette has an awsome stance as you can see and whoever gets this and gives it the tlc it deserves will have a rare one-of-a-kind Vette for sure. THERE IS A BUY NOW PRICE FOR THIS AT 5000.00 AND EVEN IF IT GETS A BID I WILL SELL IT FOR THAT PRICE , SO WHOEVER SENDS PAYMENT WILL BE THE OWNER AND I CAN HOLD THIS UNTIL YOU CAN ARRANGE FOR DELIVERY.On Oct-22-11 at 12:45:58 PDT, seller added the following information: HERE IS A LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND ON THE INTERNET ABOUT GREENWOOD CORVETTES THIS ONE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE TURBO GT MODEL. The Street Sharks by Mike Guyette As was the norm in the '60s and '70s and still is to this day, racing technology, to some extent, found its way into production autos. In an effort to offset some production costs of specially tooled items and help finance their racing endeavors, the Greenwoods decided to offer a series of custom built street cars. Initially they were built primarily based on aerodynamics and styling cues, but eventually became nothing short of high speed endurance racers for the street. True Corvette enthusiasts of the day could, for a price, have such an automobile configured the Greenwood way. Between 1975 and 1981, forty-three custom made street cars based on five distinct body styles were produced by Greenwood International. The last three series – the Turbo GT, Daytona and GTO – all used turbocharged small block engines. Just as the race cars were copied, so too, were some of the street styles. Eckler's of Titusville, Florida came out with their own swoopy body conversions, known as the Can Am and CR-II series. Often mistaken for a Greenwood design (and the reason for including them here), the Can Am somewhat resembled a cross between a Sebring GT and Turbo GT. Variations of the Can Am included recessed rectangular headlights, triple taillights, and even a functioning hatchback. Most, but not all Greenwoods, were serialized with some sort of ID plate, which helps to authenticate a Greenwood from a kit or other manufacturer. The five styles were, in chronological order (with quantities), the GT/Sebring GT (32), Sportwagon (1), Turbo GT (3), Daytona (5) and GTO (2). The following chart indicates the distribution of each design and the model year in which the cars were built. The GT / Sebring GT The Sportwagon The Turbo GT The Daytona The GTO Eckler's Can Am 1975 1976 1977 1978 1979 1980 1981 Total Sebring GT 4 22 6 32* Sportwagon 1 1 Turbo GT 3 3 Daytona 1 4 5 GTO 2 2 Total: 43 * Distribution for Sebring GTs is guestimated. The roof is made of a resin or poly material and has a small break in one corner that has been repaired, the drivers door armrest is missing, the bezels that go around the interior door latches are missing, the speedometer does not work, and the car needs to be painted in my opinion. but the tires are BFG's and are sized 275 15 all the way around and are in great condition. The rims need a good cleaning and polish, the windows will not go up and down as they have fallen off track it seems. But outside some TLC these issues are not really issues as this is a a 32 year old car so its not in new condition. If you have more questions please feel free to ask. Thanks
