Vehicle Detail
1972 Porsche 911E Targa Matching Numbers MFI VIN: 9112210267 Engine #: 6220543 This is a really sweet unmolested car with the original engine and transmission. It comes from Southern Missouri and I believe I am the 3rd owner. I bought the car from a young gentleman who received it as a college graduation gift from his father about ten years prior. The car sat in his garage for about 8 years without being driven. The car currently shows 61,000 miles on it. I think the speedometer was replaced sometime in its lifetime. So, I don’t have any clue to the true mileage. I have no history of previous service to the car. The engine runs super, and has only a tiny (quarter size) oil leak. It fires right up. It idles just a little rough, but runs smoothly from idle up to redline, and cruises really nice at speed. I think it just needs run, or a minor tune up. No smoke. The brakes work quite well. They are firm and pull the car down straight. The MFI pump and all hardware are complete and where they belong. The exhaust appears to be original and stock. The clutch and transmission are wonderful. No grinding, no noises, no drama at all. There was one repaint in the original Tangerine (018 code). I would rate the paint 8.5 out of 10. It is really quite nice. The front bumper was changed to the newer ’73 911S style, and the lettering on the rear engine lid has been changed to black. The factory radio was changed out for a vintage 1980’s cassette (which doesn’t work). These are the only major non-stock items on the car. The seats are the cool houndstooth and vinyl combination, and they are in excellent shape. The dash is in exceptional shape for its age also. If you look closely at the pictures, you will see a small crack in the dash toward the windshield above the speaker grill and another close to the instrument cluster. The carpet has been replaced and is in like new shape. There is just a small flaw in the carpet on the passenger side entrance that won’t show up in pictures. It is about the size of a silver dollar. There is a small leftover piece of the carpet in the glovebox if you want to have it repaired. I didn’t bother, it is really small. The rear package shelf is warped from heat and age. The door pockets are some of the nicest I’ve seen. The steering wheel is leather wrapped. The stitching is all gone, but the wheel and the leather are in excellent shape. The body is in good shape. There is no rust or rust repair that I detected. The front pan in front of the gas tank is original and only shows surface rust. All the other normal rust prone places on the car are in great shape. See the pictures. The targa top is real nice. The side seals could be replaced. All other rubber is real nice. The Fuchs wheels are in average shape. No damage, just faded with their age. The tires are nearly new. The tires are 2 different models of Goodyear. Overall, I would not consider this a show car. It is just a REALLY nice car. This is the 5th Porsche I am selling from my collection this year. The reason for selling it is to buy a winter vacation home. This car was bought with the intention of restoring to show standard, but I never got around to it. I still have 2 more in the process. THERE IS NO RESERVE AND NO BUY IT NOW…..HIGH BID WINS. I have the title in hand in my name ready to transfer to the new owner. I have shipped overseas, so no problem. For more pictures: http://www.studio1erie.com/porsche_911e.htm
