There were no other 1971 Buick models painted in Bamboo Cream (the 1972 model Riviera Did Not have this Exclusive Bamboo Cream paint color as an option). I'll say it again...there are No other 1971 model Buicks painted in Bamboo Cream! Bamboo Cream is an Extremely Rare paint color even for the 1971 Buick Riviera which was the Only Buick this color was Exclusively painted on! The cream faux leather interior is ALL Original. The optional chocolate vinyl top is ALL Original. The standard 315 horse power big block V8 455 4 barell engine is ALL Original and this car can burn the rubber off the tires when it takes off! This Buick runs like it came out of the showroom when it was brand new! The factory optional AM/FM 4 speaker stereo system with a built in 8 track player is ALL Original. It is equipped with the Original cream faux leather interior, front and back side glass Power Windows, and a Full Power Six-Way Adjustable front seat! 1971 was the first year the Buick Riviera Boat tail was made and coincidentally 1971 was also the year for power, best performance, and looks. The 1971 Buick Riviera with a standard big block 455 4 barell engine with 315 horsepower can go 0-60 mph in 8.4 seconds. The 1972 and 1973 model Rivieras were not so fast. The standard 455 engines in 1972 and 1973 models were choked down to a mere 225 horse power due to new emission regulations. The 1971 model Riviera features chrome bumpers with NO tacky bumper guards or rubber stripping that is on most 1972 and 1973 models. Only the 1971 model Riviera features the beautifully designed horizontal line grill... (not the ugly egg crate grill you see on the 1972 model Riviera). Only 1971 model Rivieras sport a unique set of louvers on the deck of the trunk lid. And Only the 1971 model Riviera has the standard Big Block 455 4 barell engine with a whopping 315 Horsepower (1972 and 1973 model standard 455 engines were choked to a mere 225 horse power due to emissions). 1973 models look more like tanks than a boat. The boat rear end was cut off and essentially the only boat feature left on the 1973 Riviera is the back glass. When my Grandfather saw this Buick Riviera for the first time in the show room at the dealership in Jonesville NC he fell in love with it. He purchased the car brand new in the fall of 1970. He drove the Buick to church on Sunday and occasionally would take it on a road trip to see his children and grand children. When my Grandfather wasn't driving the car he kept it in his garage. He passed away at age 83 in the summer of 2002. Since his passing the Buick Riviera has been kept in storage for the last 8 years.
