RESERVE LOWERED Up for Auction: 1997 Volkswagen Passat GLX Sedan, VR-6 Powered. I am selling this car for a family member--my stepdaughter is off to college and no longer needs it. I have been driving it the past few weeks through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the car handles and performs as it should. Recent service (oil change, tune-up, etc.), plus new heater core, water pump, thermostat, and billet aluminum crossover pipe. Tires are properly rated, and have plenty of tread left (important in these cars, as the tire size is uncommon). The car is very presentable inside and out. It does have its flaws based on its age, and this model: superficial cosmetics (dings, dents, scratches etc.); passenger front door handle is inoperable and passenger rear door window is ratchety; some paint chips that need to be addressed before they rust further; and A/C needs a recharge. In the interest of full disclosure, when I first started driving the vehicle, I had a "0411--emissions" error code come up on the car's computer, and found a missing emissions hose clamp which I replaced. I had the computer reset, and that seems to have resolved the problem. It was also reported to me that the car once cut off, but I have had no issues--I've just had a blast driving this car.
