FIRST IMPRESSION: At first glance, this Car is looks very good. This VW Jetta is a great combination of Practical Sedan, Fun and Sporty, and Luxury. This Jetta GLS really has a great combination of function, form and upgrades. PRACTICAL = It is a midsize sedan that offers incredible gas mileage, it is easy to drive and park! FORM = It offers seating for 5 adults, is an easy to drive automatic transmission with all power options! LUXURY = It has 17” Alloy Wheels, Leather Interior, Heated Seats, Power Sunroof! Priced to sell, this VW Jetta GLS is a winner. We had this car fully serviced when we took it in for VA State Inspection. After over $750 worth of work performed, there is nothing left recommended for this car. We had the exhaust serviced, new rear brakes in stalled, all fluids checked and the VA State Inspection Performed. So, this car is ready to ride. Enter through front doors and come upstairs. Exterior: The Exterior of this VW Jetta is just very nice! It is a Deep Metallic Gray, some call it silver, but I think it is more of a gray tone, and Looks Great! Overall, the outside of this car is just what I would expect for a 2003 model. The outside body of this VW is in Good condition. The Gray paint is shiny and glossy with lots of luster! The entire exterior is finished off in solid, sleek Gray. All Panels, Door Handles, and Trim are finished in Coordinating Silver. Touches of Silver are also on the front VW symbol on the grill and rear trunk Jetta VW. The overall consistency of color really adds to the appeal of this car. You will find all the side panel moldings to be on this car. This VW is riding on a set 17” Alloy Wheels that look great. The tires are in great condition and just passed VA State Safety Inspection. The tires are 22//45/17. The wheels show very little wear and are in much better condition that I would hope for give the year and miles. There is a 16" factory pare tire recessed in the trunk, easily accessible under from the trunk. There is a trunk mounted 6 Disc CD Changer and an additional AC Power Source. (I did not test the cd changer and can only assume it works.) Part of the appeal of the Jetta is the lower body molding. This lets the car sit a little lower and look a little cooler. The front grill is Silver with a matching VW emblem in chrome. The lower grill has moldings to add to the flare of the car. You also get a built in front license plate holder. With 10/2012 inspection, this car is ready to go! This 2003 VW does not have a front license plate holder. I am not installing one in case this car is sold out of state. I don’t want to affect the condition of the front bumper if not necessary. If your state requires a front plate, front holes must be drilled into the front bumper. The rear of this VW Jetta looks cool too! There is a very good looking Rear Spoiler on the trunk. The Silver bumper adds to the appeal of this Sedan. You will find there is the VW emblem in the middle, Jetta to the left. There is a stationary antennae just above the rear window. There is a built in license plate holder back here, too. The rear window has defrost. Overall, the Exterior Condition of this Jetta is in Good Condition. The only thing I can mention on this car are some normal scuffs on the rear bumper. There is a little spot on the front hood and on the rear passenger side wheel well. There is a little ding on the front passenger door. Interior: Inside this Jetta you will find to be in Good Condition. The Interior is a combination of Gray and Black. This color combination looks great! The seats are upholstered in a comfortable and supplicated Gray Leather. There is a very attractive and add a dash of class that upgrades to the interior. The dash and door panels are a combination of gray and black. Touches of chrome accent the door handles, trim, and with a large VW emblem on the steering wheel. The overall look of this Jetta is very sleek and expensive. This VW seats 5 Passengers. The front seats are high back, individual captain style seats. Both of these seats are firm and comfortable. The bolsters and support all feel firm. The leather is in good condition with no significant wear. The Front Seats are Heated and have multipoint adjustable, even with height adjustments for both front passengers. The Heated Seat controls are located on the front dash. This front dash location is very nice and a lot more user friendly that ones that are mounted on the side of the seat. No hunting for a control on the side of the seat and no accidentally turning your heated seat on in the summer. Oh, and no prankster turning your seat on without you knowing it. There are two adjustable height shoulder belts and height adjustable head rests for front seat passengers, too. Each Front Passenger has their own Vanity Mirror with Retractable Cover to Keep the Mirror Clean. In between the front seats is a center armrest. This arm rest is padded and covered with soft fabric for extra comfort. This arm rest is height adjustable. You can push it all the way up and out of the way, or it will adjust to any incremental height. This armrest opens to expose a storage area. The second row seat seats 3 more passengers. There are 3 Height Adjustable Head rests for this rear seat. There Are 3 Shoulder belts, one for each rear passenger, including the middle. I really like have the third shoulder belt when I have younger rear seat passengers since the shoulder belt offers more protection. There is a lot more leg and head room that I expected back there! I have ridden in the back seat personally several times and have been totally comfortable. The rear seat is a split rear bench. The rear seat backs will flip forward if you needs just a little extra rear cargo space. Or you can flip and fold the seat in two sections for complete rear cargo space. You can also remove the head rests. The seats are all in good condition. The combination of seat styling looks great! The carpets are in good condition. The floor mats have been used and show a little wear. You will not find any rips, tears or burn marks. The inside of this car smells good too, there is no smoke or pet odor. Overhead you will find passenger entry handles, overhead entry/reading lights, and clothes hooks. Inside this Jetta you will find lots of surprises and upgrades. There is a Fully Power Sunroof with Retractable Sunshade. This means you can open just the shade to let some sun shine in. You can crack the sun roof and pop it up for some added ventilation. You can open it completely for full sun and fun! Or you can open it to any partially open amount. There are power door locks and a remote keyless entry fob. With this remote entry you can lock and un lock the doors and pop the rear hatch. There is one key. There is AC that blows cold and the air vents, for both heat and cold, are directional and air flow adjustable. The driver side door has controls for all of the power windows (with child lock safety feature), the power side view mirrors and the door locks. The front driver side window is 1 touch. You can also adjust the power mirrors here. Both front doors have storage pockets. Both front seats have rear seat pockets. You also get chrome door handles which look really sharp against the gray interior. The center dash houses the audio system and the climate control. There are pull out cup holders and a cubby hole for storage. You also have an ashtray (which appears unused) with lighter element that is great for charging cell phones. The Steering Wheel is Black and In Very Good Condition. The Steering Wheel is smooth and in great condition. It does not show the usual amount of sun or heat wear. The steering wheel has cruise control buttons and radio control buttons, too. This is actually a significant upgrade, I almost never see steering wheel controls on a Jetta. ENTERTAINMNET SYSTEM: The sound system in this Jetta is great! It features a Pioneer Aftermarket Upgraded CD Player with Remote. You will find an In Dash CD player and AM FM Tuner and Remote. There is also a dash mounted sirus radio system. This powers on and appears to work but I could not figure out how to make the volume work. I am confident that is user error. There is a 6 Disc CD Changer in the Trunk, I forgot to test it. I notice an Ipod/Iphone hook up cable for this radio, too. There appears to be an amplifier in the trunk, mounted on the upper passenger side. At least that is what I think it is. Just below you have a covered ashtray, ac 12 volt power source, the gear shifter, and parking brake. The parking brake is a lever next to the gear shifter. I like this because it keeps me from forgetting if I set the parking brake and thus I don‘t drive off with it set. The glove box is lockable and lighted. Included is the owner's manual. There is even a special slot inside the glove box to hold the owner’s manual, keeping it in good condition and out of the way. There is one key. I notice the remote part stopped working so it probably just needs a battery since it was working when we first got the car. The Overall Interior of this Car is very nice. The interior condition is nice with no real noteworthy flaws other than usual wear and a small stain on the rear seat. Overall, this car really looks really good. Overall the Interior of this 2003 Jetta GLS is well equipped and in Good. This is a great car for anyone. The interior of this car smells great! I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke and do not believe anyone has ever smoked in this car. Under the Hood: This VW GLS has a 1.8L 4 Cylinder engine that gets 24-31 Miles Per Gallon. The DOHC Single Overhead Cam 109 cubic inch I-4 engine generates 180 Hp @ 5,500 rpm and 173 lbs-ft torque at 1,950 rpm. These Stats team with The Automatic transmission allow for high MPG in the city and on the highway, est. 24-32 miles per gallon. VA State Safety Inspected valid through next year, October 2012! One of the things I love about this VW is that when you pop the hood, a little lever pops out to open the hood. Unlike other cars where you have to search around under the hood for an almost impossible to find lever, this one pops out for easy use. No more proken fingernails. Driving Impressions: This 2003 VW Jetta GLS is super Fun to Drive. I was actually shocked at the how quick it was when I pulled out from a light. It is a super quick car! The engine and transmission are both sound and operate as they should. It is a practical yet economical car to drive. The ride is very nice and enjoyable!! I cannot make any mechanical recommendations for this sedan.
