Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1961 Corvette, I found this four years ago in a shed in Northern Arizona. It came from southern California and was raced there sometime in its past. I drove the car on to the trailer and around my neighborhood when I bought it but its sat since. I planned to put a big block and 4 speed in the car but I am loosing storage so its gonna go. Drivetrain: small block chevy with dual Holleys on a high rise Weiland intake. Headers drop down and pipes run on the inside of the rocker panels and dump out in front of the rear wheels. No idea what is inside of the motor but it ran and did not smoke four years ago. There is an electric fan on the radiator. The automatic trans did not want to shift into second very easy, I had to give it some gas for it to shift. No idea if its a vacuum line, down shift linkage or low on trans fluid. There is a ratchet shifter with a reverse lock out. The drive shaft is in it and it has a torque bracket connecting the trans and rear diff. The rear end in this car is a 10 bolt but I have no idea what it is or whats in it, there are coil springs and a sway bar in the rear. It has a 3 link suspension, two lower control arms connecting to the frame and a panhard bar in the rear. I have included pics so you guys can figure out whats in the car. Body: The body is in pretty good shape with no spider cracking and only a couple of cracks on the rear wheel wells. The paint looks like 1970's enamel with chips and scratches from time and use. The doors and trunk lid open and close perfect with really nice gaps. The inside of the trunk is not cut up, its in great shape with old black paint over original looking blue paint. There is a fuel cell and battery box in the trunk. The front end is held on with 6 pins and was cut in front of the doors. They removed the side windows, windshield wipers and heater to save weight. There is no X on the frame, the front end has the funky looking steering knuckle in front of the motor so I think its original but have no idea. I bought a brand new front end rebuild for around $400 and its still new in the box and goes with the car. Top is in good shape and has a vintage headliner in it. I have never had the top off. Windshield has a crack in front of the passenger. Interior: The original dash is there and in good shape, it has a factory tach and an old Sun tach on the column. There are remains of a roll cage that was cut out of the car at some time. Seats and soft top are missing. Someone decided that an 80's center console and interior door handles would look good.... it will be easy to remove. The door panels are made of aluminum and look good on the car. The shifter is a ratchet type with a lock out lever. I remember having to wiggle it around to get the car to fire, reverse switch? On Sep-28-11 at 19:25:46 PDT, seller added the following information: The picture of the car with my 68 Camaro shows the Vette with 20in wheels that are no longer on it. It now has the old style Ansen wheels. I encourage you to stop by and look the car over, just give me a call Kurt 602-677-6373 No space, no trades... 1932, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967,1968, 1969, 1970, Vette, cuda, camaro, chevelle, nova, hot rod, mustang, hemi, gasser,
