Vehicle Detail

1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. Odometer reads a little less than 125,000 miles, but I cannot be certain as I am not the original owner. Here's everything I do know, as most of what follows was done on my watch: Mechanical: - Rebuilt engine (within 10,000 miles). Includes all new rings and gaskets, all necessary machining and balancing, vacuum hoses, a couple of valves, all springs, a new oil pump, a new water pump, new thermostat, new fuel pump, new distributorless ignition with plugs and wires, a new power steering pump (not rebuilt - they never work) Synthetic ATF fluid in the power steering pump (yes, ATF fluid - a Toyota quirk), and a rebuilt carburetor (they work fine). All new belts, new hoses as necessary. - Recent radiator.- Recent starter motor (Mean Green).- Recent a/c compressor (R-132), and new condenser. - Synthetic blend oil in the crankcase since rebuild. Drivetrain: - Rebuilt (by SOR) Toyota H55 5-speed transmission, which included a rebuilt transfer case. - New gearshift lever and new shift boots. - New OEM clutch and flywheel. - New slave cylinder. - New brakes and rotors, new master cylinder.- Synthetic oil throughout. Suspension: - New Old Man Emu Shocks, springs, and steering stabilizer.- New tie rods.- 10K on the tires, but it's hard to tell they're not new. OEM size, and I put them in while the truck had the old sagging suspension. A set of 32" BFG's on the original rims would fit perfectly now (just a thought). Miscellaneous: - New muffler.- Decent new Pioneer stereo, with older but decent Pioneer speakers.- Some sound deadening applied, and the additional door seals which were used on Land Cruisers elsewhere worldwide have been added (see pics pointing to the seals on the door and the separate seal on the door frame). New seals on the tailgate. Cruising in fifth on the highway while speaking (not shouting) to your passengers is no problem at all.- New Hella headlamps. Interior: - New dash cap, in original color.- A few trim pieces have been replaced as necessary with original parts, but the interior is original, not messed with, and nicer than any you have seen. It does not need replacing, or I would have. Overall, a nice patina, and a pleasant smell.- Brand new, matching floor mats that I picked up recently. Nothing fancy, but you'd swear they were OEM (I won't though, because they aren't). Not shown in the pics, because you'd rather see the condition of the carpeting. Exterior: - Nice respray in the original color (before me). Nice, straight panels, good fit, no door dents. No dents at all, while I'm at it. - The body has NO RUST. Land Cruisers are notorious for rust. You can never avoid it, but an annual checkup and a little scrape sand and touch-up and you're fine. If you ignore it, it is like ignoring cancer. On this particular example, neither the frame nor the fender wells ever had any (I don't know how, but they didn't) The rain gutter channels on the roof did, as did the leading edge of the hood and the top of the tailgate. I had it all professionally removed. The roof gutter in particular is very susceptible to rust. First, all the caulking was removed from the gutter. Then all the rust was ground out, and the bare metal holes were treated with a 21st century rust sealant that chemically bonds with the metal. Traditionally, steel plates would be welded over the holes, primed and painted. This requires removing the really quite excellent and irreplaceable headliner (so it doesn't catch on fire) and ultimately ruining it. Instead, aluminum plates were attached with automotive adhesive and rivets. Everything was ground smooth, the gutter was recaulked, and the roof was repainted. The results are perfect. I forgot to have him fix one spot on the inside of the front passenger's door. I sanded it out and sealed it, but it should be fixed properly. It is not structural, and it's in an almost invisible place, but still. (See pic). Seller must make a $500 deposit within 48 hours of sale, and the balance within 7 days of sale. You arrange pickup. If you live, say, no farther than Atlanta (from Tampa) I'll drop it off if you'd like. In summary, this is very much an original-spec FJ60, with the exception of the 5-speed, which is how 60 Series were delivered in the rest of the world new. It is in turnkey condition, and can probably be had for a heck of a lot less than a new Hyundai Accent. I'll start the bidding at about 1/2 an Accent. NO RESERVE. Please bid early and bid often. NOTE: If you cannot afford to pay for this truck, do not bid on it. It is unfair to other bidders, and it is unfair to me. Thanks for looking.
