Vehicle Detail

I purchased this car from a gentleman in May who had owned it since 1995 and parked it in his garage in 1996 to restore it. He started the project with painting the underside, new front suspension, new brakes, disassembled the motor and then quit. The car sat since 1996 until May 2011 when I purchased it. I always wanted a 65 GTO this is the ultimate mussle car and this was a perfect car to restore even though I'm in the middle of a three year restoration on a 68 Firebird 400 it didn't matter I purchased the car anyway. Two weeks later I had a heart attack and now I just don't have it in me to start another major project. This car is unbelievable, no rust or corrosion of any kind, it has the most solid untouched body you will find and is the perfect and probably the only one worthy of a high end restoration. To the best of my knowledge the car is 100% original with only a few exceptions. The paint was redone maybe 20 years ago it was blue originally. The motor is numbers matching according to the numbers I ran, the interior is 100% original except for the carpet which was something he changed in 1996. The car has Factory Air Conditioning, power steering, power brakes and four speed transmission, I believe the car was an original automatic car. I have all the motor parts, block, cam, hoses, belts, pulley's, distributor, oil pan, and number matching heads. I think I have all the motor parts except for the original intake and carb. I have the four speed transmission but it had one ear broke off, I have the complete original car except for shifter, carb, intake manifold and maybe a couple of minor parts. It was a driving car when he parked it.I also have the original rocker mouldings and they are in very good condition. I would have to say all the chrome, bumpers, head light bezels, tail lights and wheel well moulding are the originals and are in excellent condition. The trunk, rockers, bottoms of fenders doors and quarters are rust free and never had any work done of any kind as far as anyone can see and i have had a lot of my friends check out this car.Now the bad news, the car needs a new paint job for a couple of reasons, it wasn't a great paint job to start off and when i seen it in his garage it was used to store things on which nicked and scratched the paint, no dents or anything like that but it did enough that its needs paint. It looks like battery acid might have gotten on the drivers fender and spotted the paint - see the pictures. I guess you could paint a few pieces and get by but this car deserves a high end restoration its just to nice.I have no warranty on anything on this car and I have tried to describe this car as honestly as I know how. I have very little history with this car, but I will tell you I'm a perfectionist and this car was a match for me.
