1958 Volvo PV445 Type: 44508 ; Chassis# 7638 ; Color Code 45 (slate blue / beige) ; Interior Code 205-136 (blue vinyl) A lot of Volvo "experts" would recognize this as a P210 Duett. It's actually an earlier and much more rare P445. This is a rare car even in Sweden, and it is one of only a very small number in the USA. This car was purchased new in Sweden by a university professor who brought it to the States with him when he got a job teaching here in Minnesota. He was the sole registered owner and driver until this car was 'retired' in the late 60s, and this car has been waiting since then for a sympathetic restoration. The P445 was built like a truck -- Literally: The strong unibody, similar to the PV444 sedan, being mounted onto a separate ladder frame, making a very tough, practically unburstable vehicle, designed for the toughest work. This body-on-frame construction also helps in performing a body-off restoration. This 1958 model was the final (and best) series of the PV445, which came from the factory with a twin-carb B16B engine and four-speed transmission. Car comes with a later B-18 and four-speed trans that need installation. Car has holes in the floors, and rust all along the sills in the lower inches of the body, but a lot of solid Swedish steel to work with here. The structure is straight, despite the banged front fender, and the body still sits square on the chassis. A pallet load of misc parts goes with the sale (see photo). No title; sold on a Bill-of-Sale. Check with your state about getting a new one issued (it's usually pretty easy, and some states you don't need one at all for older cars). If you require a title, such as for importing, we can assist you in procuring a new one. A project for a dedicated enthusiast, or parts to complete your own wagon project. There were only 6130 wagons built to this mechanical spec between 1957 and 1960 (approx 9100 of ALL types PV445 wagons built from 1953, compared to over 60,000 of the later Duett), making it a very rare variant today, and well worth saving!
