1979 Honda XL500S

1979 Honda XL500S. Mostly original with only 3,193 miles. Please note that it is a "Kick start only" bike. Starts, idles, and runs as new. Goes straight and true down the road. Gets a little squirrely around 65mph on the highway because of the semi knobby tires. I have owned it long enough to thoroughly check it out and feel very comfortable to offer it up for sale. Clear Texas title in my name. It is insured and registration is current as I ride it occasionally. Original paint Both side covers are excellent with no cracks or broken tabs Fuel tank is excellent with no dents, dings, or scratches. There is one slight chip about the size of the end of a ball point pen that would not show up in pics. You have to look for it. Front fender has some slight surface scratches in two places (see pic, I am pointing at them) All electrics work. The turn signals all work just fine at low RPM. Rev it up and they are on but don't blink until the revs drop back down, and then they start blinking again. I read in a forum that this is a common thing with this particular vintage Honda. I promise that I am not making this up. Too weird to have come up with on my own... Rims look great. Nothing really to note. New OEM tires and tubes front and rear New Gold ORing chain New grips NOS rear view mirrors (both) New engine oil New AGM battery and battery tender pigtail Original tool kit, owners manual, shop manual, and color brochure Two complete sets of keys (one key works the ignition, fork lock, and helmet holder lock) Very clean, neat, and tidy vintage dual purpose machine. Getting harder to find a machine like this one that still looks so good and hasn't been rode to death. The new owner will really like this bike. Probably have to be an old duffer like me to go for a bike like this though. Thanks for looking. Ron
