Vehicle Detail
This is my 1972 Suzuki GT550 up for auction. I've been riding it daily and can assure you that it is dependable and fun to ride. I repainted it in Mazda Yellow Mica (code 25c) which closely resembles the original Suzuki Candy Gold. I left the original paint on the headlight bucket and the upper fork tubes. Also, I found the Bates faring in a barn attached to a non-running GT550, so I cleaned it up and painted it to match this bike. I posted pictures with and without the faring for comparison. I will include a set of turn signals for the front of the bike should you choose to remove the faring. When I bought it, it had J&R 3-into-3 Racing Pipes on it. They sound great, so I left them on. I installed new exhaust clamps and gaskets however. Note that the pipes are vintage '70's and have some wear and couple of dings. Look at the pictures for details. Over the summer, I replaced the following with OEM or used Suzuki parts: headlight, spark plugs and end caps, foot rest pads and rear pegs, handlebar clamps, tach cable, left side cover, starter brush, tail light, gauges, battery strap, CCI oil tank cap, fuel line, float bowl gaskets, clutch cover gasket, shifter seal, horn, grips, and more. I replaced the gear box oil and added new 2-stroke oil. The new oil doesn't smoke as much as the old stuff. Issues: The replacement speedo reads 12k miles but the original miles is 22k. I still have the original gauge which is included with this auction. The starter clutch works about 1/2 the time. Those are notoriously weak on the '72 - '74 model years. The starter itself is perfectly fine and the kick starter works every time. Other than that, there are no issues with the functionality of the bike. Local pickup is preferred. Shipping is the bidder's responsibility. I may be persuaded to deliver within 200 miles for a fee, negotiable prior to the close of the auction. $250 deposit due at close of auction. Please don't bid if you don't intend to follow through. I've been through that before with other bikes. Email me with questions and a complete list of improvements to the bike.
