1970 FORD F-250 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGHBOY 21,000 ORIGINAL MILES Description: Un-restored 1970 Ford F-250 ( Highboy ) recently retired fire truck from Bullville, New York. with only 21,158 miles. This Ford four wheel drive truck was also know as a "Highboy" because of the high stance, a result of the transfer case placement in the frame. This truck has not been lifted and has the factory suspension. The tires are 33x12.5 - 16.5LT which were not original equipment. It is powered by a 360 cubic inch motor, 4 speed manual transmission with granny low first gear and a two speed transfer case. This F-250 is all original with power steering was added later on. The fire fighting equipment that was installed by the Saulsbury Fire Equipment CO. of Tully NY . A partial list of Fire Apparatus installed -175 gallon water tank -Gas powered pumps motor -Hale Water Pump -Front and Rear Heavy-duty Bumpers -Front sprinkler discharge nozzles -Two hose reels, one with fireproof heavy-duty hose. -Emergency lights ( spot, red and yellow ). - Unity left and right cowl spot lamps. -Ramsay Model 400 pto winch. -Penetrator siren / pa system with front speaker - Inverter Box - etc. etc. etc. The fire equipment and installation price exceeded $7600. in November of 1970. There were also add ons by the Firehouse. NOTE: This fire truck was garage kept in a heated firehouse ( until three years ago ) and has had a regular maintenance schedule so it was ready for service when needed. Condition: If you look at the bottom of the doors, run your fingers inside the wheel wells, inspect underneath you will see that this is a extremely solid and rust free. The truck that has not been chopped, had panels replaced or other unknowns. It is just as solid as day one, built like you remember, it is a REAL TRUCK with real metal. Pictures show the original features of this truck and it is available, by appointment, for a detailed inspection prior to auctions end.. While this truck only has 21,000 original miles please note that it is a ex working truck in very good condition needing some minor maintenance and cosmetics. A extremely nice ORIGINAL ( not restored ) truck that will get noticed wherever you take it, PERIOD! A few minor issues that need to be addressed - left rear wheel cylinder. -rust through on right fender lower corner ( apparently there must be a area for moisture to become trapped and prematurely rust ).This is the only place with rust and would be a easy fix. This truck was never registered in New York and was first registered by myself in New Hampshire using the original certificate of origin. New Hampshire does not require titles on vehicles over 25 years old so they did not issue one. I did call the town office and they said a title could be generated if necessary.
