Available for your consideration is a very UNIQUE and rare 1951 Chevrolet Amusement Truck. This particular truck was outfitted with the ride called " THE WHIP " This truck was one of less than a handful of trucks built by an amusement company for usage in Jersey and New York City. These trucks were used for children whose familys could not afford the local carnival and fairs so these trucks would roam the streets like an Ice Cream truck does today and give children rides...As time proved the manpower and fuel did not compensate nearly enough for the money taken in and finally retired the trucks...There are only a few known left today. This vehicle has been kept in very good overall condition as you can see in the pictures. An excellent conversation piece. This truck does run and drive good. Top speed is only about 45 miles per hour. Not built for highway usage. Very reliable and will drive to where you need to go will just need to take your time. A solid truck that is a part of history. There is some information available on the internet, but not much...We did notice a Ferris wheel truck in need of restoration available on the net. I believe they are asking $19,000.00 These would make a great pair together. We have checked this truck over and have made sure it is road ready. The brakes work well and the truck runs and drives good. A fresh oil change and coolant flush have been done since this truck is not used much. You will find this cab to be relatively solid and clean. The frame and chassis are in great shape. All mechanicals are in working order...From my research it seems there were somehwere between four to six of these trucks built. From our research there is 3 left in existance today. This truck is a good example of the times and joy of yesteryear. This truck brings back many fond memories for many people. The Whip originated in 1914 and was patented by W.F. MANGELS out of Coney Island New York....In the beginning of the 1950's W.F. Mangels amusement company started producing kiddie rides for fairs, carnivals and amusement parks. They designed a concept to reach out to area Children in big cities that could not afford to go to the amusement parks, fairs, and carnivals...This concept resulted in a mobile amusement ride. This ride is still in an existance today known as this 1951 Chevy " The Whip " Amusement truck....This truck was built and designed to provide the utmost in fun and entertainment.
