This trooper is in very good condition overall. It has a small dent in the roof, see pic and a scrape on the right rear, see pic. It has excellent tires with less than 5,000 miles since new. It has a new battery, new timing belt, new water pump. It has been super reliable and everything works. It has an Alpine CD player. The transmission is excellent. The problem is it will not pass the NC vehicle inspection. It has a misfiring on the number 6 cylinder. I have had it checked by an excellent mechanic and he believes it is either a burned exhaust valve or bent. Compression is low on that cylinder. The estimate to fix it was $600 to $1000. I have elected to not fix it because it also uses oil. The motor is not worn out and it does not smoke or anything like that. This particular model year of Isuzu Trooper had a piston ring design that was bad and did not allow oil to flow down from the piston as it should. You can read more than you could imagine in the on-line news groups etc. This would be excellent cheap and durable transportation for someone that could rebuild the motor.
