Vehicle Detail

1968 Honda CB450 K1 450cc (Black Bomber) Excellent Original Condition including paint, chrome, and most likely one or both tires. Twin cylinder vintage motorcycle. 5 speed transmision. Runs extremely strong. Very low 6,204 original miles. Matching frame number CB450-3003845 and engine number CB450E-3003885. Honda engine and frame numbers of this period did not match exactly but were within a few hundred of each other. This bike is ready to ride as a daily rider or store for weekend fun or shows. Electric start works flawlessly. 5 speed transmission. This bike cruises smoothly at 65 to 70 mph speed. Runs and idles unbelievabley smoothe as these early Hondas should. Super dependable. Almost everything about this bike is still original and as received from the dealer; Handlebars, grips, mirrors, guages, and the original California 1968 Black and Yellow License plate. I bought this motorcycle from the original owner who rode it around in the 60's in Los Angeles and then moved it to his summer home in a dry garage. He started it up every summer and rode it a bit around his cabin and put the remaining 6,000 miles on it in this way over the next 40 years! The bike has its original paint throughout and in excellent condition. Candy Blue color gas tank and side panels. The chrome is in amazingly near perfect condition on the fenders, handlebars and rims. The black paint on the frame is in excellent condition as well. The original wire harness is in very nice condition with all the original connectors present. The gas tank has the original difficult to find plastic tank badges in perfect shape. The gas tank is very clean inside. Original grey clutch, brake and throttle cables. One look at this bike and you can tell it has not been out much and was ridden very gently. Included with the bike is the original tool kit. 1968-1969 is the last year of the legendary Black Bomber. And with the first year of the 5 speed transmission and refined gas tank and fenders, many believe that the Black Bomber K1 version was the best looking and most ridable of the CB450s. I’ve owned a ’65 CB450 K0 and the K1 is a much better bike to ride with the 5 speed gear box and isn't as buzzy or subject vibration from rpms on the early Bomber. This bike is not a “restored” motorcycle, but is none the less very near show condition. This bike is an original unmolested well cared for surviving 43 year old piece of Honda history in excellent original condition. This motorcycle is in the kind of condition where it is definitely better off to preserve it like it is and needs very little cleaning up to be a show bike. When I purchased the bike it came with the fairing and sissy bar on it as shown in the pictures. The original owner was an older gentleman that obviously took a great deal of care in owning this bike. The bike has a new battery, recent valve adjustment, tune up, carbs cleaned and checked, electrical system checked, and an oil change. There are no mechanical issues with this bike It runs as it should and is ready to ride for the new owner. I truely believe this bike will be able to go 15,000 or 20,000 miles without anything but normal maintenace. It starts easily either by kick starter or electric starter. The original key does fit the ignition and operates the steering lock as you would expect. The only negatives are as follows: The original owner had the seat recovered. The seat pan underneath the cover appears to be the original in excellent shape with nice paint matching the frame. The fairing and the sissy bar were put on the bike early in its life by the original owner and are period accessories of unknown manufaturer. The fairing is probably a Bates piece custom painted to match bike. Currently I have the fairing and sissy bar off the bike. If the winning bidder wishes, I will reinstall them before the bike is picked up. The original owner also had put on a period low profile Bates taillight. It looks nice on the bike but is not original. I do have a complete correct 1968 taillight that will go with the bike. I can install it before pick up if the winning bidder wishes. There is a very shallow dent on the top of the gas tank, it is very hard to notice and you have to look in the right light at the right angle to see it. The front headlight ear/fork cover on the right front fork is also lightly dented. Looks like the bike tipped over at some point and fell on the turn signal causing some minor damage to the headlight ear. This is an easy part to replace. The lower left black fork cover also has a small dent in it as well. Sorry for the lengthy description, but I am trying to describe the bike as best as I can. I appreciate the same level of honest detail when I buy vintage vehicles. If you’re looking to own and ride a fine running and original condition Honda CB450 K1 Bomber this is a great chance at a rare opportunity for a bike that has been and will continue to be a trouble free beauty. The Bomber is available for local viewing for serious bidders. The bike has clear CA title with the original CA Black License Plate from 1968. Please ask if you have any questions prior to bidding, I will be happy to answer any questions about this motorcycle. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder, although I am willing to meet a door to door shipper. I can also bring the bike to a Forward Air terminal near San Francisco for a $75 additional fee or I will deliver the bike within 200 miles of San Francisco, CA for $150. Please, only bid if you are serious. Bidders with bad payment history will be rejected. A deposit of $200 must be made within 3 days of the end of auction. Remaining balance must be paid before pick up and within 7 business days of auction end. Payment by cash, wire transfer or cashier’s check. Paypal o.k. on the deposit, but not on the balance. Remaining balance must be paid within 5 business days and clear before shipping. This is an antique motorcycle and is sold "as is." Please look at pictures carefully and ask any questions you might have. All sales are final. Thanks and good luck.
