Vehicle Detail
Note: This car is being listed for the second time, because the winner of the first auction did not expect to win with the bid he made on day 2. This time I accept no excuses and you have to buy the car if you win the auction, no matter if you placed you bid 5 minutes after it started, or 5 seconds before it ended! For sale is my 1970 Torino Sportsroof (Fairlane 500 Trim). Details about this model can be found at: http://www.torinocobra.com/torino_vin_70.htm when decoding the VIN "OA34L248671". The car has has AC, the 250cid inline 6, 3speed automatic and ca. 63k miles on the odometer, but the actual mileage is unknown. The car has been stored in a garage for the last 5 years and some parts have been taken off or out in 2006 when I started to restore it. All of these parts have been labelled and but in Ziploc bags. Due to time constraints and the effort necessary to get the car back on the road the restoration never progressed beyond the gas tank. It has been cleaned and sealed on the inside and painted chassis black / spatter gray on the outside. It is by far the best looking piece of the car. :-) I am selling the car because I realized that I currently do not have the time or skills to tackle a restoration like this. I need to gain more experience first with a car that runs and can be upgraded with bolt-on projects over a weekend or two. This Torino is not such a car. It needs a full blown restoration! In case you wonder: Does the engine or the transmission work? Don't bother asking, because I don't know and I can't find out. One of the reasons is that there is no gas tank in the car! The engine turns over by hand and that is all I can tell you. Details are below. The first 3 pictures of the whole car were taken in 2006. Since then several major parts have been removed from the car and are now separate from it. But they are part of the auction and come with the car. They are: gas tank, second trunk lid, rear seat and seat back, rear bumper, front lights and grill, tail lights, interior and exterior trim pieces, one box of small items and fasteners. The condition of certain areas is as follows: Engine: Ran the last time in 2006. Current condition unknown. Does not leak coolant and only small amounts of oil. The car has AC, but it is not working. Transmission: Was working in 2006, but lost a lot of transmission fluid over time. Condition unknown. Interior: Bench seat in the front needs new upholstery. Back seat is in decent shape. Headliner is missing. Side panels in the front and back need to be replaced. Floor in the back is in decent condition, but has been patched in places. Front floor needs replacement on both sides. Front fenders: They are in surprisingly good condition with only small amounts of rust and no holes. Rear fenders: Several holes towards the trunk. Need replacement or patch panel. Trunk lid: Severely rusted. Needs replacement. A second trunk lid (yellow/blue) is included and it is in better, but not good shape and also has some rust issues. Core support: It is in good shape and does not need replacement as far as I can tell. Taillight panel: Significant rust damage. Glass: all glass is there and in good shape for its age. Right door: Only minor rust in the usual places. Left door: Unknown condition, because the lock is broken and it does not open. From the outside it seems to be in similar shape than the right door except for one hole near the bottom, but this is basically a guess. Engine compartment: in decent shape, battery tray needs to be replaced. Hood: seems to have been re-skinned. Looks decent, but there seem to be some underlying rust issues. Brakes: Condition of shoes and drums is unknown, system seems to have a leak, because the brakes barely worked in 2006, when used the last time. Overall this car is a non-running roller which either needs a large amount of work and parts to restore it, or it can be used as parts car. The car is sold As-Is with now warranties or guarantees. I have a clear Florida title for the car, but it is not registered. You need to pick up the car in Oviedo, FL near Orlando or arrange for shipping. I will work with your shipping company to get the car out of my garage, but I do not offer any shipping services. You as the buyer are also responsible for packing/shipping the parts I removed from the car that are also part of the auction. The car is on wheels and the tires hold air, so it can be rolled or pulled onto a trailer or flatbed tow truck. If you have any questions about the condition of the car, the pictures or anything in this description please contact me and I will try to answer as soon and complete as possible. You can also contact me to arrange to look at the car yourself. The buyer has to pay $250 as a deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction either by Paypal or in cash or cashier's check. The full amount has to be paid within 14 days and the car has to be picked up also within 14 days.
