Vehicle Detail
1970 Triumph Tiger TR6R 650cc Excellent Original Condition. Twin cylinder vintage British motorcycle. Runs extremely strong. 6,021 original miles. Matching frame number BD 41331 and engine number BD 41331 TR6R . This bike is ready to ride as a daily rider or store for weekend fun or shows. Cruises smoothly at 75 mph speed. Super dependable. Electrical system works as it should. Almost everything about this bike is original. It has original paint green gold color on the tank and fenders with black stripes. This color was called “Spring Gold” by Triumph and was used for one year only on 1970 TR6s and Tridents. Included with the bike is the original tool kit and an original Triumph sales brochure for 1970 with color pics of this model. 1970 is the last and what many believe to be the best year for Triumph 650s before Triumph went to the oil in frame models. This bike is not a show or “restored” motorcycle. This bike is an original unmolested well cared for surviving 41 year old piece of Triumph history in excellent original condition. This motorcycle is in the kind of condition where now days it would probably be better off to preserve it like it is rather than restore it. This bike has been sitting indoors for the past 15 years as a show piece. I took it out of storage 2 months ago, put in a new battery, adjusted the valves and checked the timing and changed the oil. I rode it around for 60 miles without any issues. This bike runs as it should and is ready to ride for the new owner. It starts on the first kick when hot or cold (after performing the normal pushing down on the gas tickler switch on the original Amal concentric carb when the engine is cold). The only non-original parts on the bike are the tires and battery. The amp meter is a new old stock Lucas Amp Meter. The seat is a new old stock original Triumph seat bought from an old Triumph dealer inventory (it is not a reproduction). The headlight lens, tail light lens and side reflectors are all the original genuine Lucas parts. The wiring harness is the original and is in excellent shape with the original connectors intact. The only negatives are as follows: There are some very minor scratches here and there on the 40 year old paint but almost none worth noting. The biggest scratch or wear mark can be seen in the picture on the top rear of the tank towards the seat beneath the chrome strip which doesn’t take anything away from the bike and is not a dent. Also it appears that a previous owner may have repainted the left side cover and oil tank black as I don’t see evidence of an oil level or Tiger decal on either piece. There is also a small shallow dent on the top edge of the oil tank which can be seen in a picture. The side cover and oil tank look fine, but if winning bidder is interested I have a New Old Stock Oil Tank in perfect condition that came from on old dealer inventory with original paint from the Triumph factory including the oil level decal that I will put on the bike for an additional $300 above the winning bid. Sorry for the lengthy description, but I am trying to describe the bike as best as I can. I appreciate the same level of honest detail when I buy vintage vehicles. If you’re looking to own and ride a fine running and original condition Triumph, this is a great chance at a rare opportunity for a bike that has been and will continue to be a trouble free beauty. This Triumph is available for local viewing for serious bidders. The bike has clear CA title. Please ask if you have any questions prior to bidding, I will be happy to answer any questions about this motorcycle. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder, although I am willing to meet a door to door shipper. I can also bring the bike to a Forward Air terminal near San Francisco for a $75 additional fee or I will deliver the bike within 200 miles of San Francisco, CA for $150. Please, only bid if you are serious. Bidders with bad payment history will be rejected. A deposit of $500 must be made within 3 days of the end of auction. Remaining balance must be paid before pick up. Payment by cash, wire transfer or cashier’s check. All funds must clear before shipping. Thanks and good luck.
