Vehicle Detail
Here's a project that I intended to do myself that is now available for the right bidder. It took me three years to buy this barn find from what I was told is the original owner. I ended up having to buy multiple cars, as this was a buy them all or none deal. The title I got with the car says issued 1967, so I"m not sure if there was another owner before that, or if it was in the recent owners sons name before he went to Vietnam, wich is the story I got. What I do know is that the car is complete and original except for a crappy repair job on the right rear after a minor stop sign accident. I took the car home and replaced all the brakes and cylinders and turned the drums. Drained the gas rebuilt the carb and put in new points and wires. The 283 fired right up and though it has 100k on it, no smoke and it sounds really good. The trans shifts proper and the car is driveable. Everything seems to work including the power top that goes up and down smoothly with the push of a button. The condition of the body is good considering it sat in a dirt floored barn for many years. The entire front end dog house could just be sanded and painted. The front floor pans and center brace need replacing and I would put on a left rear quarter. There is some rust at the point where the trunk meets the rear wheel tubs. The frame is super solid and the doors aren't bad. Rocker panels inside and out are solid. I will try to show all points of concern with the photographs. All trim, interior and exterior is there with the exception of one left front fender badge. The top fabric will need replaced, and at least the front seats recovered. The front grill and headlight area is perfect as well as the rear tail area and trunk. The doors shut super nice, no body sag issues here. All the glass on the car is perfect. Anyway, the guy who buys this rig will want to do it right, and this is a very original, complete base to start from. I being more a Ford guy than Chevy, and more of a mechanic than body man, am going to give someone else the oppurtunity to give this highly desirable, #'s matching, unmolested classic it's proper dues. I took the car to town (20 miles) last night and was amazed at how straight, smooth and quite it drove! The old boy I got it from new it had value, so I didn't get it for free, so I won't sell it for low money either. I just have two other builds going on and not enough time . But if the Money isn't right I'll just keep her till I can get around to it. . This is a " as is " sale and I hope the photo's tell the story, but feel free to ask any questions. If you ever wanted to build one of these 63's your way, here you go!
