Vehicle Detail
I've finally decided to sell my beautiful, low miles 1991 Toyota MR2. Got to pay the kid's college bill. :( The car is in terrific condition. The exterior is a blue-green. I always say blue, but I can see why others get a bit confused. There are just a few nicks and scratches, but overall it is really nice. I've owned the car for 6 years have had taken great care of it. No accidents or anything. The interior is black. All leather is in pristine condition. Includes the center storage compartment. Little problem with the driver side door armrest, as the cardboard underneath has split. You will need to put some kind of support under there, like a metal strap or something. The leather on top is completely undamaged. I'm trying to work a solution before I sell it, but I might not. It's not a big problem--just that we all like our baby to be perfect! Seats are original, and the driver's seat shows a little wear on the outer edge. Nothing major, though, and overall they look just fine. Carpets clean up nicely, and there are absolutely no holes or significant wear spots. The sport tires are about 1 1/2 years old and have plenty of life left. The little spare donut and original tools are included. The T-Top windows are completely free of any blemishes, and I have both the shades and window leather storage pouches. You can see all of this in the pictures. Mechanically, the car is sound. I recently had the master and slave cylinders replaced, and had the shop install new clutch kit and flywheel, so the trans-axle system is new. The clutch pressure plate wasn't pushing the clutch pedal back very well, so the shop installed an extra spring to push it back properly. So, the clutch pedal feels a bit lighter than normal, but it works perfectly and everything is brand new. All interior controls work fine: instrument cluster, all lights, locks, power windows, cruise control, etc. In 1999, the AutoCheck shows a small mileage discrepancy, but I am absolutely sure this is a typo. As you can see, the car already had very low miles prior to that, and I think that someone just wrote something down wrong. On 11 Dec 1999, the car showed 28,960, and on 20 May 2000, it apparently showed 28,835. I am sure that on the later date, it should have read 29,835. There was only a short break of 5 months between service readings, and the car's previous history shows that it was VERY lightly driven. Besides, how much driving could someone do in 5 months that they would feel that they needed to go through ALL the trouble of rolling the mileage back. Makes no sense. When I bought the car in 2005, it had around 36K miles on it, and it has driven with very few problems since then. You will have to be the judge, but I think you will agree that nothing devious (ie, rollback) was done. The car has a terrific stereo system installed, complete with an amplifier, sub-woofer, aftermarket Alpine stereo, new speakers, IPod connection, XM radio, etc. Sounds like a million bucks in this small car. For purists, I still have the original OEM Toyota stereo that will also come with the car. I have all the paperwork for the stereo setup--bought it all from Best Buy, and they installed the whole lot. The only problem is the antenna. For some reason, and I think it was minor, it stopped working, and thinking I was some kind of stereo guru, I tried to fix it. Failed miserably. I think that this is something that you can do, or get done, reasonably easily. I've included a picture of the antenna motor (and an extra one that I bought thinking the old one was shot). The harness and everything is there--you just need to get someone to fix. I listened to XM, my IPod, and CDs almost exclusively, which is why I never fixed it. OK, so that's the rundown. Minor, minor issues for a car that's my college son's age. Oh, and the battery is new. To give you an idea of how good this car is, Warranty America issued a 4-year extended warranty on the vehicle in 2007. The warranty is expired now, and I never had to use it. The car never broke down. I sold another of my cars on here recently with excellent feedback. You can see from my own feedback that I take buying and selling on Ebay VERY seriously. I have a 100% positive rating, and a score of 550. Bid with confidence that you will be well satisfied!
