California black plate 1964 Triumph Spitfire. 63,127 miles. Commission #STC64FC16043L, Engine #FC16418HE, Body #1524FC. Color: Red, Trim: Black. California pink slip. Complete car with exception of tools and jack. Solid car with several areas needing attention both cosmetically and mechanically. Mechanicals require new brakes and clutch hydraulics. Engine turns. Gas tank will need attention and carbs likely will need a rebuild. Electrics have not been evaluated. Body is generally solid. Areas that need attention are documented in the photos. There will be no surprises if you read the description and see the photos. Floors are solid. Some areas are pushed up from below. Battery acid created rusted out the battery box and a small part of the front passenger floor and a small portion of the right rocker (see photos). There is also an area between the boot floor and the rear panel that has rusted through and is filled with plastic filler. This area is about eight inches long and in the seam. It does not appear to be extensive. The front of the car was bumped/hit and this damaged the front frame horns attached to the bumpers. Also, the lower portion of the bonnet, especially the grill and left headlight area were damaged. The repair was poorly executed. The parts for this repair are available from SpitBits in Northern California at a reasonable price. There is also a small area of rust in the lower rear quarter panel. There is surface rust on the inside of the floors for both driver and passenger floors. The passenger side has heavier pitting, but does not appear to go through (it’s still solid). There is plastic filler around each bonnet latch covering dents. There is not rust there – it appears to be a poor job of dent/metal bumping/repair. The frame is excellent with the exception of the area already noted. Left floor outrigger is bent and outriggers behind front wheels are bent/damaged. Paint is poorly applied, but is providing some protection for now. Glass is good. Rubber is not, and will need to be replaced. Tires are only good for rolling the car and will need replacing. Wheels look good. Hubcaps are OK. The support rod (two-piece) for the bonnet is repaired with a weld – I’m including a good used one. Seats and door panels are recovered with aftermarket covers that are in nice condition. Dashpad is cracked. Gauges are in nice condition. Original radio (period correct or factory/dealer installed). Two sets of keys. Original steering wheel. Includes an aftermarket Long Beach California “Snugtop” custom hardtop. Car has been stored inside for the past six years.
