1993 Honda Goldwing GL1500 Aspencade & Motorvation Formula II LTD sidecar -- $8,999 In case you're unaware of the Goldwing's reputation: they are known for being a trustworthy chariot over hundreds of thousands of miles. I'm sure I'll overlook some of the features of the Aspencade but here goes: * 6-cylinder, 4-stroke powerplant * 5-speed shaft drive transmission plus reverse gear (awesome for the sidecar) * Custom king & queen seat by Corbin ($900) * Dual front disc brakes (single in the rear I believe) * Aftermarket six-pipe exhaust * AM/FM/Cassette with rear speakers and fader * Cruise control (though switch is flaky and sometimes won't engage) * Intercom for driver and passenger plus Cellphone interface -- which is how I listen to the CD/MP3 player * Trunk, saddlebags, and luggage rack option * Onboard air compressor for the adjustable airshocks and even an airhose for tires, beach toys, etc * Extra chrome trim * 2 matching helmets * Trailer hitch harness * Clymer's manual and toolkit * ~47,000 miles If sidecars are new to you, relax -- they're just a bit different, much like going from a manual car to an automatic transmission. Some sidecars are permanently mounted; this one is removable in under 30 minutes for two-wheeling fun. It's the safest bike you'll ever ride because (1) other drivers always notice this beautiful blue head-turner because it has more body to see, and (2) the third wheel means you'll never lay it down with unseen black ice or other slick surfaces -- which really extends the riding season! It's a unique ride and excellent for: * Short drivers (like me) or women who may not otherwise be able to hold a heavy Goldwing upright, * A family of 3 or 4 to be able to ride together, * Taking the dog along with you, and/or * Carrying gear on long hauls (there is a huuuge amount of storage inside the sidecar unit -- in addition to the fold-down luggage rack) The sidecar has its own integrated disc brake system, mag wheel, four-point mount for safety, marker light and headlight, manual electric lean, seat belt!, helmet intercom jack though sometimes staticky, and soft top with support brace so passengers and gear always stay dry. Truth in advertising: Motorvation calls this a "Two Passenger" sidecar, but I'd say it's really "2 Kids" or "Adult+Child". Odd quirk since factory installation which affected the bike's wiring: a couple times a year, upon a jolt like a pothole or railroad crossing, the engine will stall -- I just turn the key off and on (while still rolling) and everything's back to normal. It's had a new alternator/stator, battery, front brakes, and speedometer cable in the past year (new tires and rear brakes in the past two years). This beautiful rig does have a few nicks in the paint that my camera couldn't focus in on.
